Design Committee Update

The Design Committee and our architects, Jim Graham and Brett Baba, have been working hard behind the scenes to develop our schematic design package. We previously announced these would be released in late June, but with additional input from the Design Committee, Graham / Baba will be providing drawings July 11 and making an in person presentation for the entire congregation on Sunday, July 27 in the Sanctuary after the 9:30 am service. We encourage everyone to attend that presentation. It will also be recorded for those unable to attend.

The other news to share is that after interviewing several applicants, the vestry approved the selection of Tim Carter and Joe Marx of Idaho Mountain Builders Idaho Mountain Builders to perform

pre-construction services for St. Thomas. IMB did an excellent job renovating the rectory and we are excited to have them join our team. They will do cost estimating of the schematic drawings we will get in July. They will also work with us and their subcontractors to evaluate existing conditions and consult on the development of the construction documents over the next year.

As always, please contact David Lister or Jonah Kendall any time with any questions or concerns.

SPACC - St. Thomas Playhouse

We had a wonderful time up in the mountains for SPACC 2025. Thank you to all the families for allowing us to work with your amazing young artists!

Dear Friends in Christ,

It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that I write to you today.

Last Sunday afternoon (6/29), I received an email from Bruce and Barbara Turner, asking for prayers for a safe return from a drive they were taking with the Rev. Fr. Akinpelu James, our new priest-in-charge at St. Luke’s in Idaho Falls. Just a few hours later, at 6:30 p.m., I received a devastating phone call from Senior Warden Kay Moore. She informed me that there had been a terrible rollover crash near American Falls.

In that tragic accident, our beloved Dean, Mr. Bruce Turner, died. His wife, Barbara Turner, sustained critical injuries and remains in serious condition. Fr. James also suffered injuries that will require medical attention and care.

I am heartbroken by this loss. Only a day earlier, Bruce and Barbara had joyfully joined our Diocesan Council meeting, sharing updates about their ministry and their excitement in welcoming Fr. James to St. Luke’s. Their faith, dedication, and love for the Church were evident and inspiring.

Please keep the Turner children, Zach and Nick, and their families, Fr. James, and the community of St. Luke’s and Idaho Falls in your fervent prayers as they begin to navigate the pain of this tragedy.

As plans for Bruce’s funeral are made, we will share details with you. In the meantime, may we all draw near to one another in love and hold fast to the hope we have in Jesus, who walks with us through every sorrow and holds us in eternal mercy.

In grief and in hope,

The Rt. Rev. Jos Tharakan

Bishop of Idaho

Sunday School is on a brief summer vacation, but there are clipboards with coloring pages and pipe cleaner crafts by the ushers. The nursery in the back of the Sanctuary is open for families with children 5 and under to enjoy during the service. Stay tuned for news about our Summer Sunday School beginning July 13!

St. Thomas Columbarium:

“The best real estate deal in Sun Valley”

The St. Thomas Columbarium has been a sacred place of rest for the ashes of parishioners for nearly twenty years. It is tucked beside the Church on the Trail Creek side, and the sound of water is part of its beauty as a place of contemplation and remembrance. Jokingly

referred to as “The best real estate deal in Sun Valley,” niches are

reserved by parishioners through a simple agreement for a fee of $1,500.00 per niche. If you have not made plans for your final resting place, you may wish to consider this option.

Niche holders are invited every year to the “Hole in the Wall Gang” party! Hosted this summer by Garry and Suzie Pearson, it is a

much-loved tradition and an opportunity to get to know your eternal neighbors. The party is scheduled for 5:30 pm on July 22nd.

For more information please contact Stefanie in the church office.
