Friendship & Encouragement

At Still Waters, we believe in creating moments of joy, encouragement, and connection—even when the fishing is indoors!

During our Great Indoors Fishing Derby, the room was filled with laughter as our guests cast their lines, hoping to "hook" the big one. One guest, a bit unsure at first, hesitated as she tried to reel in her catch. But she wasn’t alone—her fellow anglers cheered her on, offering encouragement, playful advice, and lots of applause.

What made this moment special wasn’t the fishing itself—it was the support, the friendships, and the shared joy that filled the room. Whether it’s a game, a conversation, or simply being together, our seniors lift one another up, celebrate victories (big or small), and create a true sense of community.

Do you know a senior who could benefit from this kind of companionship and support? We’d love to welcome them into our Still Waters family. 💙 Click on the picture above to see the great catch!

Exciting News: Summer Youth Program Funding Secured

We are thrilled to share that Still Waters has once again been awarded funding from the Summer Youth Program Fund (SYPF) through the Central Indiana Community Foundation!

This generous support allows us to continue our intergenerational summer programming, bringing in talented artists three days a week to engage both seniors and youth in meaningful, creative activities. These sessions provide an incredible opportunity for different generations to connect, learn from one another, and build lasting relationships.

A huge thank you to SYPF for believing in the power of intergenerational engagement and for helping us make this program possible again!

We can’t wait for another summer of art, music, and shared experiences—stay tuned for more details!

Bringing Indiana’s History to Our Seniors

We are thrilled to announce that, thanks to a generous grant from Indiana Humanities, we have partnered with the Indiana State Museum to bring Indiana’s historic sites directly to our seniors!

Many of our guests are unable to visit these sites in person, so we’re bringing the experience to them through engaging presentations and interactive discussions.

This month, we will explore:

🔹 Whitewater Canal – Once a vital transportation route in the 1800s, the Whitewater Canal played a key role in Indiana’s early economy. Did you know that the canal system helped transform small towns into bustling trade hubs, but frequent flooding made maintenance a challenge?

🔹 Levi & Catharine Coffin State Historic Site – Known as the “Grand Central Station” of the Underground Railroad, this site was home to Levi & Catharine Coffin, who helped over 1,000 enslaved people escape to freedom. Many freedom seekers found refuge in hidden rooms within the house, which still stand today.

We are so excited to provide this unique opportunity for our seniors to engage with Indiana’s rich history without ever leaving the center!

Stay tuned for more historical site visits in the coming months!

Yoga and Peace: Meditate and Create Workshop

Caregiving is one of the most selfless acts of love, but it often comes with immense stress and emotional strain. At Still Waters, we understand the challenges caregivers face and the importance of prioritizing their own well-being. That’s why we’re thrilled to partner with Creative Nature to host Meditate & Create, a workshop designed to help caregivers and community members find peace, creativity, and rejuvenation.

Join us on Saturday, March 8th, at 5:00 PM for an evening of mindfulness and artistic expression led by Stephanie Schroeder of Creative Nature. This 2.5-hour workshop will guide participants through a relaxing meditation session and offer space to tap into their creativity, crafting something meaningful in a supportive environment.

The Meditate & Create workshop is open to all and costs $40.00. It will take place at Still Waters Adult Day Center and promises to be an evening of reflection, connection, and renewal.

Take this opportunity to pause, nurture yourself, and reclaim your peace—you deserve it. We hope to see you there!
