You have probably heard of the book "Good to Great" by Jim Collins. It appeared to be very popular probably 15+ years ago.
Meredith brought it home the other day so I scanned it looking for the main point. The books uses a phrases 'hedgehog' to describe the mindset of a great company. Hedgehog is defined by three qualities the company answers about itself:
What you can be best at in the world?
What are you deeply passionate about?
What drives your economic engine?
Collins gives multiple examples of companies that do this well and those that don't and their eventual outcome. Although I love this kind of stuff, it's what made MBA school interesting, I nevertheless sought to apply it to SFOI.
I believe what we can be best at in the world is preaching Christ in more places more often.
The reason this is important is because it frames everything SFOI does. All training, plans, organization is governed by the big idea of preaching the Gospel in more places more often.
