Resources for Selecting and Implementing

Programs that Work

Spring is the time to start planning for the fall! Here are some of our favorite resources to support selecting a model that has evidence of impact and making a plan for implementation and evaluation.

Designed for educators and decision-makers, this regularly updated website offers in-depth information on tutoring models that have significant impacts on achievement and are disseminated by providers committed to scaling the model as it was researched. Currently, 22 in-person and virtual tutoring models are included.

Our team is also available for consultation on program selection, implementation, and evaluation. Contact Jen Krajewski at jkrajew2@jhu.edu to schedule time with our team.

Conducting rigorous cost-analysis can help you determine if a program is worth it. These resources from Accelerate are designed to help decision-makers estimate a program's return on investment.

This report and accompanying playbook created in collaboration with Accelerate offer lessons learned and step-by-step guidance for community-based organizations and other providers that are looking to stand up high-dosage tutoring programs during the school day.

This tool is useful for exploring the evidence on a broader range of PK-12 education programs (e.g., whole class curricula, attendance, family engagement). Launched by CRRE in 2017, this regularly updated, widely used web-based resource aims to support decision-making by providing key information on programs meeting ESSA evidence standards: program descriptions, cost, contact information, summaries of efficacy studies, and requirements for implementation.

Users can personalize a search for programs with evidence using filters that reflect desired characteristics or search for a particular program to see if it has evidence. Nearly 1200 programs are included on the website.

2024-2025 Highlights

In-person, on screen, and through publications, we had a productive year collaborating with tutoring providers, state education agencies, districts, research teams, journalists, and numerous organizations committed to using evidence to improve learning for kids.

2025 Annual Convening: State of High-Dosage Tutoring

Not even a snow storm could prevent 170 researchers, tutoring providers, nonprofits, and education decision-makers from joining in community for this two-day event co-hosted with Accelerate in February at the Hopkins Bloomberg Center in Washington D.C.

Other collaborations include...

“High-Dosage Tutoring: A High-Impact Literacy Strategy,” is a webinar sponsored by the Massachusetts Business Alliance for Education. ProvenTutoring’s Amanda Neitzel and CRRE’s Joe Reilly, discuss the analysis of program outcomes for a first-grade tutoring program.

ProvenTutoring’s Amanda Neitzel discussed tutoring and evidence-proven models in addressing learning loss in a podcast entitled “The Ongoing Recovery From Pandemic-Era Learning Losses,” held by the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond as part of their Speaking of the Economy series.

An article co-written by ProvenTutoring’s Jennifer Krajewski and Accelerate’s Jennifer Bronson appears in the National Association of State Boards of Education (NASBE)’s State Education Standard  “Connecting Schools and Communities” issue, which addresses how partners in the community can help support pre-K – 12 learning
