Those who say, “I love God,” and hate a brother or sister are liars, for those who do not love a brother or sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. | | |
In last week’s message from 1 Timothy 2:1, we were reminded that prayer is not just something we turn to in moments of need, but a way of life rooted in relationship with God. Too often, we treat prayer like an emergency button—only reaching out when something is wrong or when we need help. But true prayer is an ongoing conversation with God, one that continues throughout the day. We are invited to notice God’s presence in everyday moments, to pause with gratitude, and to remain connected—not just asking for something but simply being with God. Living this way transforms prayer from an occasional act into a constant awareness of God’s love and presence with us.
One simple way to live into this call to “pray constantly” is through the practice of Breath Prayer. A breath prayer is a short, meaningful phrase prayed in rhythm with your breathing. As you breathe in, you silently pray one part of the phrase (for example, “Lord Jesus Christ”), and as you breathe out, you pray the second part (such as “I trust You” or “have mercy on me”). This gentle, repeating prayer can be practiced anywhere—while walking, driving, or even in a quiet moment at home. It helps center our hearts, calm our minds, and keep us aware of God’s presence throughout the day. Over time, breath prayer becomes a natural way to stay connected to God, reminding us that prayer is not just something we do—but a way we live

This day embodies a core Saint Mark UMC value, service. On this day we come together as a church to care for the building that hosts countless acts of God. This Make Your Mark day will be the biggest yet! We'll be focusing on not one, but three different areas: the gymnasium, the staff parking garage, and the front lawn.
Mike Beecham is leading the gymnasium crew, Sherrie Graham is directing the staff parking garage crew, and Jeff Bradly is overseeing the front lawn crew. Contact theses faithful servants to register.
Your presence will make a major impact!
