Important Dates and Updates
PFA Family Application
The 2026-27 Family Application is almost closed! Families only have until May 14, 2026 at 11:59PM PST to apply for Preschool for All! So far, we have received 4,111 applications. Once the application closes, we'll process all applications submitted during this primary period.
Then, the application will reopen later this summer to fill any remaining seats and to add families who would like to be placed on a waiting list.
Thank you all for helping with family application outreach and speaking with prospective PFA families.
Families who applied during the primary period will find out if their children got a PFA seat in late May or early June. If a child doesn’t get a seat, they will be on a waitlist for all of the preschools they picked.
As a courtesy, during this first round of placements, providers will see who got into their preschool a few days before families are notified. After the first round of placements, providers and families will find out about placements at the same time.
If a family gets a PFA seat, they will have to accept it by the date listed in the Portal. If a family accepts their seat, they will have until a specific date (listed in the Portal) to enroll at your preschool. Preschool starts in September.
Provider Engagement Committee: April Meeting Recap
The Provider Engagement Committee recently met to focus on Placement & Enrollment, identifying ways to improve the experience for both providers and families.
The discussion centered on six key areas:
-
Mid-Year Transfers: Balancing family choice with the need for classroom stability and settled communities
-
Placement Timing & Communication: Ensuring all parties receive the information they need early enough to plan effectively
-
Algorithm Transparency: Making the placement and decision-making process more understandable for families and providers
-
Informed Program Selection: Helping families gather enough information to make meaningful choices before ranking sites
-
Placement Ages: Accounting for developmental stages and age cycles within different program models
-
Low Enrollment: Addressing system-wide responses and obligations when program seats remain unfilled
