Sunnyvale Residents Urged to Take Survey

The Town of Sunnyvale is working to update the Town’s comprehensive plan. The Imagine Sunnyvale Comprehensive Plan will serve as the Town’s official guide for land use and development for the next 20 years.

Residents, business owners and operators, property owners, developers and community stakeholders are encouraged to complete the Online Community Survey. The survey contains questions about important issues and opportunities facing the Town that the Comprehensive Plan planning process should address. The survey will be available until Sept. 15. Your feedback is essential to creating a successful plan for our community!

When completed, the Imagine Sunnyvale Comprehensive Plan will be the product of the community, with a vision and recommendations guided by valuable input received from residents, business owners, community leaders, and other stakeholders.

Residents should track the project's progress through the project website during the next year to stay informed. To learn more about the process, explore the website or contact the Town of Sunnyvale Planning and Development Department at AskPlanning@townofsunnyvale.org or 972-203-4188.

Follow Summer Lawn Watering Schedules

Did you know that about half the water we use goes to watering our lawns, and most of us water more than our lawns need?

No lawn watering is allowed in Sunnyvale between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Property owners should water on their designated day as outlined in the Town's Watering Zone Map.

Summers in Texas are hot and dry, prompting the need to use water wisely. The Town of Sunnyvale's website has several resources to help you save water and reduce your water bill.

Committee Begins Reviewing Town Charter

On July 14, the Town Council approved a resolution forming the Home Rule Charter Review Committee. The committee consists of nine residents who will review the charter and make any necessary recommendations to the voters. The committee met for the first time on July 22, and will continue meeting through November. Proposed changes will be brought to the citizens on a ballot at the May 2026 general election. Meetings for the committee are scheduled for Aug. 19, Sept. 3, and Sept. 30, all at 6 p.m. at Town Hall. Members appointed to serve on the HRC are Gary Smothers, Jim Wade, Jerry Johnson, Meghan McCaig, Lauren Larson, Joe Turner, George Matthew, Kevin Clark, and Georgeann Moss..

The Home Rule Charter is the local constitution, outlining the municipal government’s structure, powers and functions. Periodic reviews are essential to ensure the Charter remains current, effective and responsive to the community’s needs.

Following the resignation of Place 4 Council Member Mark Eldridge, the Council will call a special election on or before Aug. 26, to be held on the uniform election date, Nov. 4.

The filing period for residents to file for a place on the ballot will be announced soon. Monitor Town Council agendas and future editions of NewsFlash for more information.

Charlie is a 10-month-old male Great Dane mix: Hi, I'm Charlie! Life's a game, and I'm always ready to play. Tug-of-war? Yes, please! Fetch? I'm your guy. I've got an abundance of energy waiting to be shared with you. I'm also a top-notch cuddler. I can turn any lap into a cozy bed. My silly antics will keep you laughing, and my sweet nature will warm your heart. I'm a loyal friend, always ready to give and receive love. Consider adopting me and bringing a fun, furry friend into your family!

We would love for you to share this with others and bring awareness to the Sunnyvale Animal Shelter's animals and services. If your family is ready to add a member, we currently have many adoptable animals in our shelter looking for a new place to call home.
