Friends,
The support you have shown us during this difficult time has uplifted our spirits and reinforced our belief in the power of cinema to connect and to comfort. We have received creative pledges, thoughtful donations, wonderfully kind letters, and Membership and gift card purchases. With each of these contributions our hearts swell a little more. We are incredibly lucky to have you as part of our Cinema family.
Since the announcement of our temporary closure on March 12th, we have received more than $10,000 in donations, Membership purchases, and gift cards.
THANK YOU.
All your support is helping to sustain us through this temporary closure, compensate our staff, and position us for a successful reopening. If you would like to contribute to this effort, you can do so via any of the following methods.
Plus, now you can support us by streaming one of our virtual cinema offerings too (see below)!

We're proud to support the efforts of Oscilloscope Laboratories & Mailchimp in their partnership to launch the #SupportTheShorts platform,
a free website
now streaming the Official SXSW 2020 Short Films.
While the festival experience (like the cinema experience) can't be replaced, we hope this effort helps the shorts reach new audiences. Stay tuned for more free film resources as they become available.

Emily Ward, House Manager, recommends:
BLOOD TEA AND RED STRING
dir. Christine Cegavske, 2006
|
I recommend this movie to as many people as possible! Made over the course of 13 years by Oregon-based artist, Christiane Cegavske, BLOOD TEA AND RED STRING is a gritty, stop motion animation for adults with no dialogue, but loads of amazing fantastical creatures and beautiful puppetry. If you’re looking for "something different," this is definitely it!

Cathy Harraghy, See-Hear-Feel-Film and Circle of Friends Volunteer, recommends:
SYSTEM CRASHER
dir. Norah Fingscheidt, 2019
|
Shown as part of Amherst Cinema's New Films from Germany series last fall, SYSTEM CRASHER is an endearing look at a traumatized young child who cannot control herself and whose pain is palpable. The film explores the dilemma of finding a home where she can grow and be herself.

Nick Verdi, Box Office Staff, recommends:
TAPE
dir. Richard Linklater, 2001
|
In TAPE, Ethan Hawke, Uma Thurman, and Robert Sean Leonard are trapped together in a tiny motel room, forced to confront their confused history. Based on a play by Stephen Belber and directed by Richard Linklater with a minuscule budget, this is basically a 90-minute scene that explores how time, jealousy, and narcissism can twist reality into an abstract nightmare for men who don’t know how to deal with themselves.
