| | LVNBA Hosting Annual Scholarship & Awards Gala on October 25 |
The Las Vegas chapter of the National Bar Association (LVNBA) is hosting its 2025 Annual Scholarships & Awards Gala beginning at 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, at the Red Rock Resort and Casino.
The formal, black-tie event will draw hundreds of esteemed guests, and will feature fine dining, live music, and amazing mountain views. The night will raise funds for impactful scholarships, honor amazing legal community leaders, and support the continuing efforts of the LVNBA.
This event is a unique opportunity to connect with an important and influential sector of the Nevada community. And as a sponsor, partner, or supporter of the gala, you are giving more than just financial support. Your contribution will open and widen the path of possibility for the next generation of legal professionals.
The LVNBA is an active affiliate of the National Bar Association, which was formally organized in 1925. The National Bar Association is the oldest and largest association of predominantly African-American lawyers, judges, law professors, and other legal professionals.

The State Bar of Nevada has published an update to its popular free download, Succession Planning in Nevada. The book has been re-released with updates relevant to 2025, including a new chapter titled “Digital Succession Planning,” to help Nevada attorneys close their practice or plan for an unexpected medical crisis or death.
The digital succession planning chapter includes tips on how to manage electronic files, email accounts, and cloud-based systems; password management and secure transfer of digital assets; compliance with data protection laws; and recommendations for wiping devices before disposal. The new chapter also includes a checklist for securing digital assets as well as sample language for client consent to store files electronically.
The book also includes forms, which are designed as a starting point for practitioners to craft custom agreements. The templates can and should be customized to fit your specific needs and requirements.
The guide is designed to help attorneys who are assisting in closing a practice, as it provides a step-by-step checklist for this process. Be sure to download your copy of this helpful resource.

The Family Law Specialization Board has opened online applications for the
2026 Board Certified Specialization in Family Law Exam, to be held on the morning of March 7, 2026, in both Las Vegas and Reno. It will last approximately three hours.

The First Judicial District Bar Association (FJDBA) is hosting a one-hour general credit CLE titled “Property Easements and Disputes” at noon Friday, September 26, at Red’s Old 395 Grill at 1055 South Carson Street in Carson City. David Rigdon from Taggart and Taggart will be the speaker.

| | Legal Aid Center Hosting "An Evening with the Court of Appeals" | |
The Pro Bono Project of the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada (LASCN) is hosting a CLE titled “An Evening with the Court of Appeals: Tips for Handling a Pro Bono Appeal with Confidence” from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 3, at the Supreme Court of Nevada in Las Vegas.
This is a unique opportunity to meet Chief Judge Bonnie Bulla, Judge Michael Gibbons, and Judge Deborah Westbrook, and to learn from them about tips on handling a pro bono appeal with confidence.
The meet-and-greet will take place from 5-6 p.m. and the CLE presentation will take place from 6-7 p.m. Hors d'oeuvres and light refreshments will be served. Pro bono attorneys who refer others to this CLE can receive a free Starbucks gift card.
Nevada-licensed or emeritus-certified attorneys can earn 1 general CLE credit by attending. To receive credit, attorneys must have at least one active pro bono case or take one new case. You can select a case or sign up for Ask-A-Lawyer sessions from www.lacsnprobono.org.
