To my Waccamaw Neck Friends & Neighbors:

My name is Sandra Bundy. I am a candidate for Georgetown County Council District 1. I want to introduce myself and tell you why I am running.

I encourage you to visit my website at SandraBundy.com for more detailed information.

BORN AND RAISED IN MURRELLS INLET

My connection to Murrells Inlet goes back generations. I grew up here as the daughter of Capt. Alex Sing, a pioneer in the Inlet’s charter fishing industry, and Betty Jo Sing, who ran our family business, Capt. Alex’s Marina.

As a child, I worked in our family store and marina, surrounded by the fishermen, boat captains, local families and small businesses that defined the fishing village of Murrells Inlet long before it became the community we know today.

Murrells Inlet isn’t simply where I live - it is who I am. It is where I grew up and built a lifetime of relationships.

COMMUNITY LEADER

My upbringing has given me a firsthand understanding of both what makes Murrells Inlet special and the challenges we face today as our community continues to grow.

For decades, I have worked to protect the Inlet and the quality of life of the people who call it home. I am a founding member and President of the Business Alliance for Protecting the Atlantic Coast, where I have worked to protect our coast while recognizing how closely the health of our natural resources is tied to the strength of our local economy.

I also founded Our Marsh Counts, a community initiative that brings together local organizations and residents to reduce marine debris and protect the Murrells Inlet watershed.

FORMER PLANNING COMMISSIONER

For more than four years, I served on the Georgetown County Planning Commission, where I dealt directly with the difficult land-use and growth decisions that are shaping our community.

All these experiences have given me an unusually broad perspective on Murrells Inlet - its history, its environment, its economy, its growth, and the people who live here.

THE PUBLIC RECORD

I believe a candidate's record matters.

My years of community service and work on the Planning Commission have given me a close-up view of the decisions that are shaping Murrells Inlet and the rest of the county.

When you compare the backgrounds, experience, and public records on the issues affecting our community, there are critical differences between my record and that of my opponent, Clint Elliott.

AN INDEPENDENT, GRASSROOTS CAMPAIGN

This election is about whether District 1 will continue down the same path or finally have a representative who listens to the people she serves - not political insiders.

My campaign is not powered by the political establishment, special interests, or massive campaign spending. It is powered by people who live here.

I believe a local County Council election is not about national party politics. It's about local issues and local people. That's why I intentionally chose to run as a Petition Candidate and not as the nominee of a political party.

I am on the ballot for County Council District 1 as a Petition Candidate through the signatures of hundreds of Murrells Inlet voters.

I am an independent citizen challenging an incumbent who is the current Chairman of Georgetown County Council, the Republican nominee in this race, and a political insider.

If you want to vote for me, a straight-party selection alone will not do it.

You must separately select "Sandra Bundy" in the County Council District 1 race. You can still vote straight party as long as you specifically select my name for County Council District 1. That selection will override the straight-party selection in the District 1 race only. It will not affect your straight-party selection in other races.

SAVE THE DATE

I would love to meet you at an upcoming event in Murrells Inlet. On October 7, I have been invited to speak at a Community Land Use Forum sponsored by Keep It Green:

Community Land Use Forum

Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at 6 pm

Inlet Affairs

All are welcome.

This forum will feature:

  • A KIG presentation about the impact of recent County land use decisions on Murrells Inlet and the lower Waccamaw Neck.

  • Dr. Till Hanebuth, Professor of Marine Science & Coastal Geology at Coastal Carolina University, discussing the science of dredging.

  • Sandra Bundy discussing issues relevant to Murrells Inlet, the Waccamaw Neck, and Georgetown County from her unique perspective.

MOVING FORWARD

In the weeks ahead, I’ll continue sharing information about the issues facing District 1 and what voters need to know about this election. I hope you’ll stay engaged, ask questions, and make an informed choice.

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter and learn a little more about me, my background, and my record. I would be honored to have your vote for County Council District 1.

Sincerely,

Sandra Bundy
