The Alpha Group's annual Zoom Duck Derby presented by Medical Mutual took place on Sunday, July 14 at Zoombezi Bay! A record number of ducks were adopted (6,000), more than 300 people were registered, and the sun was out!

Thanks to sponsors and those who purchased ducks, merchandise and made donations, we made more than $26,000 after expenses. Funds will be used for programs and services for people with disabilities.

A couple of local TV stations covered the event. We have a copy of the story done by ABC 6. Click here to watch it.

We also want to thank our 2024 duck dignitaries. A duck dignitary is an alpha supporter who is a business leader, community leader, and/or friend of the agency. They were invited to create a team and promote duck sales! The total number of ducks sold by our duck dignitaries was 2,269.

Medical Mutual was the top sales team for the Duck Dignitaries and sold a total of 1,428!

Alpha staff teams did another great job this year selling ducks. They sold a combined total of 1,813 ducks!

One employee, Kerry Brown, sold 587 ducks! She has won a golden duck trophy and $100 gift card to our BINABLE retail store!

One of our members is a new author! Emma's book, It's Cool to have Different Abilities is for sale on Amazon. Click here to purchase it.

Here are a few photos of our Summer Youth Work Experience groups! Stratford Ecological Center, Giant Eagle Powell and Macy's Polaris.

The program took place over the course of five weeks. Youth worked with a job coach, as well as other group members, to gain employability skills.

DONOR UPDATE

The Alpha Group received a grant from the Delaware County Foundation for a new vehicle! Generous donors from the Foundation's Ron Sabatino Fund, The Robert Weiler Family Fund and the Waters Family Fund made it all possible.

Alpha serves people with disabilities in 13 counties in Ohio. Our transportation vehicles travel more than 1,700 miles every month to take people to work, doctor appointments, community outings, home and more. Overtime, our vehicles experience wear and tear and eventually some need replaced. Because of the support of grants and donors like the one above, we are able to continue to provide this critical service.

We have a new program for recurring gifts. A G.E.M is someone who gives every month to The Alpha Group.

As a dedicated member of the G.E.M community, you will receive an invitation to our annual event, Pairings with Alpha, as well as donor updates and special acknowledgements throughout the year.

Have you checked out our new discount bin store? BINABLE carries returned and overstock items with the main goal of employing people with disabilities.

Every Friday, the bins are restocked, and everything is $14. Prices decrease each day until they are $1 on Thursdays.
