About the Artist:
Ani Eastwood has always felt very strongly about nurturing a close connection with nature and trying to bring and share that awareness and love for the wilderness with others. As a 4th generation Montanan, she has strong roots in the Bitterroot Valley and Missoula areas and always feels inspired by the natural beauty around her. In formal education, she graduated with honors from the University of Montana with an Arts and Anthropology degree, and completed a few painting apprenticeships, including one regarding balanese painting styles. She is otherwise a self-taught painter, woodworker and professional giclee printer, who co-owns and shows her work at The Artists' Shop in downtown Missoula. Ani started exhibiting at age 16 in Missoula, Montana and has since grown her art business in Montana and the desert Southwest. She has attempted to have at least 1 larger exhibition a year for the last 24 years with new works, and tries to paint at minimum 8-15 larger original oils every year in addition to her sketches and other projects.
Currently, she is a very hard working mother of 2 young children running her businesses. She works as a professional artist, selling her own work at The Artists' Shop and other gallery venues. She also runs Artists of Montana Giclee for other working artists to provide archival prints for Western Montana. Ani believes with a good deal of focus, daily practice and dedication, an artist can thrive and allow the artistic narrative and the Montana way of life touch many. She hopes her artwork brings the landscapes we all love into people's intimate spaces and always remind us of the value of our national parks and open landscapes. Her pieces are not just landscapes, but usually also have a narrative, surreal quality, trying to express the underlying feelings that affect us all seasonally and in different life stages with limited palettes and imagery. She also works to a break and test boundaries of how we all envision traditional giclee printing, such as finding new ways to embellish prints, and paint outside the lines. In addition, 5% of Ani's sales from her work is donated to the National Forest Foundation each year to hopefully secure our wild and scenic landscapes for future generations.
