The Message this Week
Preaching Text: John 1:1-18
The Word became flesh! We love the baby Jesus story we hear on Christmas Eve, but John gives us a more cosmic experience. He places Jesus, the Word, at the very beginning. Now the Word that spoke over the nothingness will become a human being, bringing grace and truth. Will we be ready to receive it?
Gracious God, thank you for this time of Advent preparation. Still it isn't about our work in preparing, but about the ways You make us ready. Thank you. In Jesus' name, Amen.

WONDERING...
Real questions from real people to learn more about faith.
Why don't all the Gospels include the story of baby Jesus?

- Loving God, you have given us the immeasurable gift of the Word made flesh. May his light abide within us as we anticipate the fulfillment of your promise.
- Help us to see how we are connected to the creation and help us care for it to glorify you.
- Renew our spirits and prepare our hearts to receive the gift of your son.
- Shine into the lives of those who struggle to see your light. Send healing and wholeness to all who suffer.
Steadfast and loving God, gather these prayers we have offered, both aloud and silent, into your loving arms, for we know that you are faithful and will never abandon us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

End of Year Giving
Thanks to all who support the sharing of Christ's love with our community through Geneva Lutheran Church! As you plan your end of year generosity, here are a few reminders:
-
Online giving is a great way to give, and giving from a bank account rather than a credit card can help avoid additional bank fees.
- Gifts mailed to the church must be postmarked by December 31, 2025 to be included in 2025 giving statements.
- Stock Donations and Required Minimum Distribution gifts (for those 73 or older) are also a great way to support our ministry. Talk to Lisa Kanzler in our office.

The “blues” - it’s a feeling everyone has felt and, for most, more often than we’d like to admit. The blues can overtake the red and green decorations, twinkling lights, and shiny garland that come with the holiday season. Many struggle with feelings of loneliness, and smile through the fun of holiday parties, sing-alongs, and gift giving, all the while feeling more alone than ever. A Stephen Minister can help fade those blues by being there to openly listen to those very valid feelings, offering understanding, support, and reassurance that you never need to feel alone. You are God’s precious child, and He wants you to feel joy over the birth of His only Son, not loneliness. Please allow a Stephen Minister to help you gift yourself with God’s love, guidance, and peace, and joy.
Contact Pastor Trudy for more information.

Stephen Ministry
a poem by Dotty Johnson
Someone you may have seen at church,
Another precious soul
Chosen by God to walk with you
As together, He makes you whole.
