Week of September 30 - October 4, 2019
“Relationships are like muscle tissue, the more they are engaged, the stronger and more valuable they become.” Rubin
Dear Families and Staff:
Tomorrow, we are expecting over 500 grandparents and special friends who have a special relationship with our elementary students. It is always such a wonderful activity to see the joy in our little ones as they show what they are doing in school, and experience the pride in each one of them through their grandparents and special friends.

As educators, developing relationships with students is a priority every day. Those relationships form a foundation for student success in school, as do the relationships we foster with you as families and community. We are always open to your insights about what we could do better, and of course, your appreciations of what is working well.

Each conversation we have with a student, a colleague, a parent or a community member contributes toward our goal of being a school that  “engages and empowers”   others,  helps all students achieve , and  provides a safe place for students and staff  to learn and grow.

Together We Are Eagle Proud and Eagle Strong!

The funds generated support many of school programs. Hours are 7-10pm on Friday and Saturday; with a special Lights Up event from 4:30-5:30pm on Saturday. You can contact Sue Marchant at 920.493.4266 or Cory Vandertie at 920.676.1920 if you would like to volunteer.
SOPHOMORES TO PARTICIPATE IN MANUFACTURING DAY - OCTOBER 4, 2019
Our sophomores will be joining hundreds of high school students from Washington Island, Sevastopol, and Sturgeon Bay to learn about career options close to home at the third annual Manufacturing Day October 4th. Organized by the Door County Economic Development Corporation, students will learn more about local companies that can provide living wages and are in need of qualified workers. Tom Strong, DCEDC Operations Manager, says his group and schools are working with students ahead of time to match them with manufacturers that fit their interests. Such student visits can help them learn about apprenticeships and down the line could help them obtain full-time employment.

DCEDC Manufacturing Days will showcase 12 area companies on October 4th. They'll host student visits from 8:30 until 11:30am. Public tours and a job fair will run from 12:30-4:00 pm.
SUMMER READING CELEBRATION Students who participated in the Summer Reading Program needed to read a minimum of 1300 minutes over the summer in order to receive a free book. The program is done by Southern Door in collaboration with the Door County Public Library.

Congratulations to these students who met the minimum requirements.

Kudos to Addison Kluge, Southern Door 6th grader, who participated in Chalk the Bay this past weekend and placed first in her age bracket. The theme was mystery books. It was Addison's first time participating.
