MAYOR'S UPDATE

From the desk of Mayor Rika Levin

Congratulations, Christopher Grant, Andrew McNamee, Shane Quadras, and Ryan Sarson, for your significant achievement in being appointed to the Eagle Scout Court from Ossining's Troop 49. Your dedication and hard work have not gone unnoticed, and it was an honor to celebrate with you and your families.

I attended the Free & Fair Playwright Festival at Bethany Arts Community in Ossining this past weekend. It's my first time seeing (and participating) in this festival. It was an outstanding play about various readings regarding the state of our elections and the importance of voter participation. The comedic approach was brilliant—a special shoutout to Gabrielle Fox and K. Lorrel Manning on this fine production.

Are you looking to enter/reenter the workforce or change careers? Westchester County will be offering a FREE Rabies vaccination clinic for dogs, cats, and ferrets of Westchester County Residents on Saturday, September 28th, from 10 AM to 3:00 PM at the SPCA of Westchester (590 North State Road Briarcliff Manor, NY // Appointments require: call (914) 941-2896 ext. 110).

Rabies is a fatal disease that is spread through the bite or saliva of infected animals. Raccoons, skunks, bats, and foxes are the most commonly infected animals. However, domestic animals such as cats and dogs are also at risk because they can easily contract rabies from wild or stray animals.

A pet that is up-to-date with its rabies vaccinations would only need to get a booster dose of vaccine within five days of the pet's exposure to a known or suspected rabid animal. Animals not up-to-date with rabies vaccinations would need to be quarantined or potentially euthanized following contact with a rabid or suspect-rabid animal.
