Merritt Island's Major Development Boom

As a Merritt Island native, I'm so proud to how our island is growing! Some of these new projects include:

New commercial development:

The new shopping center featuring a Wawa, Chipotle, Automotive shop, another restaurant, and a car wash. They're building this on the spot where the Erdman site used to be. The new First Watch is also set to open in early June at the building of the old Bonefish Grill.

New Hospital:

The new Health First hospital worth $410 million is under construction on 520 in Merritt Island. It is designed to withstand a category 4 hurricane and have 120 private rooms, 25-bed emergency department, 6 operating rooms, and a central energy plant to ensure the hospital can function during hurricanes.

New Luxury Apartments:

Fortenberry Road Apartments is a $120 million project with plans to build a 370-unit luxury apartment complex on the site of the old paintball facility behind the Merritt Island Mall.

Veterans Memorial Park Amphitheater:

A new amphitheater is being built in Veterans Memorial Park in Merritt Island. Funded through many partnerships, the project is nearing completion of its design stage with a scheduled opening in early-to-mid 2025.

On a personal note, my clients purchased a beach condo this week, this was an exciting closing since they've always dreamed of owning in the area.
