IN-PERSON WORSHIP IN THE SANCTUARY & LIVESTREAM
Sun Sep 27, 10:00am “Balloons and Belonging” ~ Rev. Danielle Lindstrom
Each Sunday, all are invited to join us. Through ritual, story, and music, we explore together themes that inform our faith, challenge us to go deeper, and call us to action with love at the center. We hope you find care, support, love, and community here. Each service is a little different. The one thing that never changes: it is good to be together.
The nursery is staffed for young children starting at 9:45am. K-9th Grade Religious Exploration classes meet this Sunday.

From Our Minister ~ Rev. Danielle Lindstrom
On Sunday, we will be sharing the story of how covenants became the connecting force that holds our community together. It is powerful to build a community on the importance of relationship over creed or shared belief statements. The covenant holds us so that we can do the work of love together.
We have our own CUUC covenant, voted on by the congregation in 2024. It is a powerful reminder of how we hope to be in relationship with one another. It tells you a lot about who we are and who we aspire to be.
With open hearts and minds, we, the community of CUUC, children, youth, adults, elders, all, covenant together to shape our congregation on a foundation of love, acceptance, kindness, and respect.
Strengthened by our common humanity, we strive to be welcoming, inclusive, and cultivate a sense of belonging.
We embrace diversity as a source of strength, honoring the gifts we each bring.
We can disagree respectfully and be open to change, understanding that people meet with different abilities, backgrounds, experiences, and expectations.
Sharing a vision of being in relationship with one another, we listen to others with curiosity and compassion, and we provide space for the quiet to be heard.
We support one another in times of joy and in times of struggle. And we make time for rest and renewal.
Working side by side, we strengthen our community as we engage in acts of service.
We acknowledge our vulnerabilities while building trust among ourselves, enabling us to work together toward justice in our world.
We participate and pledge as we can to support our community.
Inspired to explore life's questions and mysteries, we affirm and kindle our connectedness.
We foster the journeys of our congregants across generations while in the embrace of community.
Honoring our interdependence,
we hold ourselves accountable to each other by earnestly engaging in dialogue, both to understand and to be understood. When we fall short of our covenant, we seek to reconcile with one another with patience and grace.
When needed, we ask for support from our minister and congregation.
We hold ourselves to these ideals, and each day, we begin again with love.
We are building a community with love at the center that can hold all of us, as we are, as we are becoming. May it be so.

Adult Class: Creating Theology Together October 24, 9:00am-2:00pm at CUUC
Lunch included. Childcare available if requested by October 18
By understanding our personal theology and then moving beyond a focus on the individual search for truth and meaning, we create space for a shared theology to emerge as we continue growing together in faith. We will begin by defining theology, and exploring our personal relationship with theology and how it has evolved along our journey. Where do we come from? What do we carry? How does that impact, inform, challenge us? We will then explore how to honor our individual experiences as we journey together in covenanted community, consider our congregational theological identity, and examine what it means to practice pluralism as a value. What does it look like to allow a shared theology to emerge? How do we make space for what others bring? RSVP HERE
9/27: K-9th Grade Classes Meet
We begin in the sanctuary, then leave after the story.

5th-6th grade Soul Matters class meets with Denice Tomlinson, April Castoldi, and Gary Press.

It Takes a Village
RE Families met last Sunday to hear an overview of the year ahead, learn about ways to get involved at CUUC, and build community. The families also talked about ways they welcome support from the community. These include gently and lovingly asking the children to check in with their adults before taking handfuls of sweets during coffee hour, intercepting young children if they are heading outside, and reminding them to walk in the hallways. We want our children to feel welcome and comfortable at CUUC, while also being safe and cared for by the larger community. Please be patient and kind with your support.
CUUC Dads Connect
Andrés Otero, Matthew Lindstrom, and Derick Engelbrecht have started a group for CUUC dads and invite others to join them. A signup sheet will be available on the RE table during the Life of the Congregation Fair this Sunday.
Theme Resources for Families
We are using Soul Matters Sharing Circle materials in Religious Exploration classes, Journey Groups, and worship. Each month we will share resources for families so you can explore the theme together at home. There are stories, movie suggestions, activities, conversation prompts, and more. Click here for the September Beginnings materials or pick up a copy on the RE Welcome table.

Dear Members of the Community Unitarian Universalist Congregation,
Together, we will explore a vibrant array of restaurants that celebrate the richness and diversity of world cuisines, including Yemeni, Balkan, Filipino, Chinese, Cuban, Dominican, Ukrainian, Polish, Ethiopian, Sri Lankan, Georgian, and more.
This flavorful journey will take place on the Second Sunday of each month after service.
Our first outing will be to a Filipino restaurant on October 11th, followed by a visit to an authentic Yemeni restaurant on Sunday November 8th, and concluding the year with a festive gathering at a Ukrainian restaurant on Sunday December 13th.
Please note that space may be limited each month depending on the restaurant selected, so early interest is encouraged. Approx cost is $35-40 per person, depending on the restaurant and number of participants
If you would like to be part of this culinary exploration, please reach out to Scott Damashak at: scottdamashek@gmail.com or Mohammed Loutfy at Maloutfy@gmail.com. We would be delighted to have you join us for this community building and flavor filled experience.

CUUC Journey Groups are monthly gatherings of 4–10 participants that meet from Sep through Jun. Each group explores a monthly theme through deep listening, meaningful sharing, and reflection. Participants receive a Journey Group packet with selected quotes, poems, and articles related to that month’s theme. Facilitators guide the conversations and hold space for sharing. If you signed up last year, you may rejoin the same group or try a new meeting. Some groups meet in person, some meet online (on Zoom), and some are hybrid: in person and online.

Archaeology of the Spirit: Arts-Based Spiritual Direction Group with Rev. ReBecca, 8-week program at CUUC, Time to be decided by group, Space is limited to 5
Join Rev. Sala for an 8-week program to explore your inner life through art, using whatever medium calls you into connection with the sacred — paint, clay, the written word, textile arts, or otherwise. It is a practice of deep listening: to the sacred, to one another, and to what is stirring beneath the surface of your life. Sessions are 90 minutes, at a time that works for the group. Space is limited to 5. If you're interested, please reach out to Rev. Danielle, minister@cuucwp.org. Rev.
