The A&C Board of Directors is excited to announce this year’s member show at Freeman Hall. Prospectus will be available soon!

We invite members to submit 2D and 3D works in a wide range of media. As in prior years, members may submit one piece of work for the main exhibition (in person and online) and up to two unframed portfolio pieces. All work must be for sale. We are maintaining our low 20% commission to support our organization. The show is for A&C Members ONLY, so if you’re not yet a member, this is a great time to join. Join here.

Lou Schellenberg will be the juror for awards. Winning artists will be notified, and the awards will be presented on Saturday, April 11, between 3pm and 5pm at our opening reception. Members will have the chance to meet and mingle with other members while enjoying light refreshments.

We will be asking entrants to sign up for volunteer positions when they drop off art, if they’ve not already done so. Volunteering is a fun way to interact with other members and to support the A&C’s work to bring art to the public.

We look forward to seeing your submissions!

Poets and Artists: Arts & Cultural Council of Bucks County is accepting submissions from January 15-January 31, 2025 for 30 Days of Inspiration, our poem-a-day-paired-with-an-artwork-a-day social media campaign in recognition of National Poetry Month. For complete guidelines and how to submit visit: www.bucksarts.org/30days

Submit poems or artwork separately—you may submit in both categories—but pairings are curated by the A&C. We are looking forward to another fantastic year of surprising connections and exciting work.

OUR FIRST OF THE NEW YEAR!

Arts and Cultural Council at Freeman Hall I 181 East Court Street I Doylestown, PA I Next First Thursday February 5, 7-8:30pm I

Four Writers: Nilufer Bektas, Grant Clauser, Bill Donahue and Lynda Gene Rymond. Join us to hear these remarkable writers read from their works. Followed by a relaxed discussion and light refreshments.

ATTENTION VISUAL ARTISTS & WRITERS!

As 2026 begins, we at the Arts & Cultural Council are revisiting our popular request for themed artwork across our social media platforms. Here's how it works: we'll announce a theme and ask members to share visual art, a poem, a paragraph, or even a line that speaks to the theme. We'll then trumpet it out to our 2.9K followers on Facebook and Instagram.

Our themes for 2026 so far are:

February: Reflection

A reflection is both the original and its doppelganger. It is the thing and its mirror image. It is the past and our present thought. It is a moment folded back on itself. For February, send us your meditations on reflections of all kinds: in mirrors and lakes, in shiny surfaces and strangest dreams, your deepest reconsiderations and your joyful look-backs.

March: Equinox

For March, our theme will be the Equinox.

What is the Equinox? The Equinox occurs when the Earth's equator passes the Sun, resulting in nearly equal amounts of daylight and darkness across the planet (usually occurring around March 20 and September 22). And how can it be expressed artistically? It’s about dichotomy, a balance between light and dark, masculine and feminine energies, action and rest, a balance between winter’s rest and spring’s renewal, celestial bodies … the only limit is your imagination!

We will try to feature as many members as possible, but space will be limited, so reach out to our social media team at socialmedia@bucksarts.org ASAP.

Also note that we will need to keep literary submissions social-media-friendly, so short works or excerpts would be ideal.

Make the most of your membership by liking and following us @bucksarts, and by sharing daily with your circle of friends, families, and collectors. More art makes more art!
