Greetings!
How do you respond when a mistake has been made with your fast-food order? If you’re 6’3” and weigh 270 pounds, people don’t recommend crawling through the drive-through window.
But that’s exactly what happened when a University of Kansas football player realized a chalupa was left out of his Taco Bell order. He got so angry that he tried to climb through the 14- by 46-inch drive-through window and got stuck.
The frightened manager and employees locked themselves in an office and called the police.
The police pulled up to the drive-through and laughed hysterically as they discovered the legs and back end of the football player kicking in midair. Police Sergeant George Wheeler said, “When you take a big guy and put him through a small space, something’s got to give.”
Wow! What an outrageous thing to do…or is it? Maybe you’ve done something out of anger that was just as foolish and just as ridiculous as jumping through a fast-food window? Our anger and resulting actions are often just as silly—though perhaps more ordinary—when we get angry: intentionally cutting down a person in front of others, throwing fists, starting a mean rumor (whether true or untrue), giving someone the silent treatment.
Though these are very natural human responses, Paul warns that this is not the way God wants us to act. “Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you” (Ephesians 4:31-32).
