Bridgewater Middle School Students Catch The Solar Eclipse
|
|
Bridgewater Middle School students gathered outside during school on Monday, April 8th, to witness the phenomenon of the Solar Eclipse. Each student and teacher was equipped with eclipse glasses to keep their eyes safe and protected from the sun and to help them better see the eclipse.
|
|
They set up a galaxy backdrop for students to pose in front of with solar eclipse-themed props that say things like "Solar Eclipse Watching Squad 2024" and "Always Stealing the Spotlight," along with other fun props like a sun, moon, mustache, and sunglasses!
|
Students got to go outside, enjoy a beautiful day with an amazing sight, and were able to sit back, relax, and soak up some eclipsed sun!

This historic treasure in our downtown is the Memorial Building. It originally served as a library prior to the construction of the new library next door. The Memorial Building is a Civil War Memorial and was dedicated in 1882 to fallen soldiers that fought in the Civil War. Etched on marble outside of the front doors of the building are the names of 36 deceased soldiers.

Climate Can Do:
Reduce, Reuse, and Upcycle
One of the many ways that we can help against climate change is to reduce our consumption, reuse pieces that we already have, and upcycle them to make something new. Often we are quick to throw things out that we are no longer using, but why not give things a second life and keep them out of the landfills?
Ways to Reduce, Reuse, and Upcycle
- Before throwing something away, consider if you or someone else could use it again in the same or different way. Passing things on to friends, selling on marketplaces, or donating them are all ways to give something another life.
- Avoiding overconsumption is challenging, but being mindful of new purchases curbs the amount of new things being made.
- Upcycling is taking something old and making it into something new! These projects can be practical, creative and fun!
- Feel the need to shop? Going thrifting and buying second hand is a fun way to get your shopping fix in and find unusual items, inexpensively.
- The fashion industry is responsible for 10% of the world’s carbon emissions and consumes 10% of all water used industrially worldwide. (Sustainable Harvest International)
- Shop close to home and within your community. People often resell or give away things they do not need anymore. It could be just what you are looking for!
The more we reduce our consumption of products, reuse and upcycle, the more we keep out of landfills and we lower production in the first place. This also saves you money while helping to keep the environment safe for us humans.

Together, we can make a difference by taking action to live sustainably. Let's empower ourselves to create a better future for our planet, one step at a time.

Monty Python’s SPAMALOT
Apr 19-21 & 25-27
Rondileau Student Union Auditorium
19 Park Avenue
Lovingly ripped off from the classic film comedy Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Monty Python’s SPAMALOT retells the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, and features a bevy of beautiful show girls, not to mention cows, killer rabbits, and French people.
The 2005 Broadway production won three Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and was followed by two successful West End runs. The outrageous, uproarious, and gloriously entertaining story of King Arthur and the Lady of the Lake will delight audiences as they search for the Holy Grail and “always look on the bright side of life.”

Re-Birth
“Getting a second life is one thing. Making a better life, that's the trick.”
~ Rick Riordan, The Blood of Olympus
“i learnt from the autumn leaves, the formula of healing.
every year, they break, fall off the trees and die.
and then again in a few months, they find their way back home.
reborn, living a new life just to die again.
but never did that stop them growing again.
so why can't we humans just live up to them.
fall, get hurt, bear pain but have enough
courage and energy to stand up and fight back again.” ~ Renesmee Stormer
|
As the buds dare to show themselves on the tips of these bare branches, and slowly we see color emerge from forsythia and daffodils; once again we succumb to re-birth, as a child pushed crying from the womb.
We grow a year wiser, encouraged to see the earth and it's inhabitants through a new lens. What shall we do better in 2024? In what ways shall WE grow?
~ Jacquie
