As Father’s Day approaches, we pause to reflect on our earthly fathers. In America, we started officially celebrating Father’s Day on June 19, 1910. Yet thousands of years before, we see gratitude to our Heavenly Father in the Psalms – “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; His love endures forever.” (Psalm 107:1) I am reminded of the incredible gift we have in Jesus – sent to us in love by the Father. (John 3:16).
God’s love, provision, and faithfulness are evident every day at the Modesto Gospel Mission. Through His grace, lives are being restored, families are finding hope, and men, women, and children are experiencing the transforming love of Christ.
I am deeply grateful for the faithful community that stands beside us in this work. Your prayers, generosity, and encouragement allow us to serve those in need with compassion and dignity. Together, we are not only meeting physical needs, but also pointing people to the eternal hope found in Christ Jesus.
Thank you for partnering with us as we continue to share the love of our Father with those who are hurting and homeless in our community. Your support is impacting lives of many women, men and kids in the community.
Happy Father’s Day to all you, Dads and Grandfathers! May God bless you and keep you.

| | I ASKED MYSELF, “WHAT’S THE PURPOSE OF LIFE?” | | |
I grew up in South Carolina. My childhood was okay, but my family wasn’t necessarily the best. My dad was always out, and even though my mom took care of us, she wasn’t very attentive. Growing up like that made me want something different for my own son. My son is 10 years old now, and no matter how much time passes, every time I see him, he treats me like there’s been no time apart from us. I love the little guy.
When I first came to Modesto Gospel Mission, I felt lost and miserable. I struggled with things like lust, food, and codependency, and there were times I asked myself, “What’s the purpose of life?” But the Mission changed me in so many ways. God helped me find purpose. He gave me a reason to be a better father, a provider, and a man who walks with purpose instead of defeat.
Today, I’m going to school at Modesto Junior College studying Psychology and Computer Science, and I’m working toward starting my own mobile detailing business. Most importantly, I’m continuing to walk in the footsteps God wants me to walk in.

| | A NIGHT OF CLEAN COMEDY & JOYFUL FUN! | | |
Join us for an unforgettable evening at the 2026 Fall Gala as we gather to celebrate hope, transformation, and the life-changing work happening every day at Modesto Gospel Mission. This year, we’re excited to welcome comedian Mike Williams, former writer for Carrot Top, along with Dan McGowan, musical parodist and voice-over artist, bringing humor, encouragement, and inspiration to the stage.
Taking place on Saturday, September 12, from 5–9 PM at Calvary Chapel Modesto, the evening will be filled with great food, meaningful connection, and moments that will leave a lasting impact. Whether you come with friends, coworkers, family, or your entire church small group, this is a night designed to inspire and unite our community around a shared mission of hope.
Most importantly, every ticket and sponsorship helps support Modesto Gospel Mission’s programs for men, women, and children experiencing homelessness, addiction, and crisis. Your participation helps provide meals, shelter, recovery, education, and the opportunity for a brand-new beginning.
Come be part of a night that changes lives—both yours and theirs.
| | EVERY BACKPACK Tells a story of CARE! | | Each year, Modesto Gospel Mission’s “Kicks 4 Kids” outreach event brings hope and encouragement to local children as they prepare for a new school year. Through the generosity of donors, volunteers, and community partners, children receive brand-new shoes, backpacks, and essential school supplies that help them start the year with confidence and dignity. More than just providing practical items, this event reminds families that they are valued and supported by a caring community. Smiles, laughter, and grateful hearts fill the day as volunteers serve with compassion and kindness. Together, we are helping students walk confidently into their future while sharing the love, hope, and restoration that Modesto Gospel Mission stands for. | | |

Steady Hands, Faithful Heart

"The righteous man walks in his integrity; his children are blessed after him.” -Proverbs 20:7
June gives us a moment to honor the men who have quietly carried responsibility, shown up with consistency, and led with strength and care—fathers, grandfathers, mentors, and spiritual guides. Their influence is often seen not in grand gestures, but in steady presence and faithful commitment.
The strength of a godly father is not just in provision or protection. It is found in integrity, in choosing what is right even when it is difficult, and in standing firm through life’s pressures. It shows in the sacrifices made without recognition, in guidance given with patience, and in love expressed through actions more than words. There are days when the weight feels heavy—leading a family, making decisions, carrying unseen burdens. Yet God does not call fathers to stand alone. His strength is made perfect in weakness. He walks alongside them, giving wisdom for each decision and grace for every moment.
This month, let’s be intentional:
- Appreciate the fathers and father figures who lead with faith.
- Encourage them with words that strengthen and uplift.
- Pray for wisdom, courage, and peace in their daily walk
Whether you are celebrating a father, remembering one, or stepping into that role yourself, know this: God sees your faithfulness. He is your strength, your guide, and your constant support. As we celebrate Father’s Day, may we honor the men who lead with integrity and reflect the heart of our Heavenly Father.
Happy Father’s Day!
