Prepared by HeliValue$, Inc.
Jason Kmiecik, ASA – President
On July 16, 2026, HeliValue$ held its Q2 2026 Pricing Review Meeting, where our analysts conducted a detailed, model-by-model review of every helicopter listed in The Official Helicopter Blue Book®. The goal was to evaluate current resale values and market performance against recent global transactions and market data. This quarterly assessment provides a comprehensive view of ongoing trends in helicopter resale pricing, supply, and transaction activity across all major weight classes and configurations.
Key Market Insights
Overall Market Performance:
Overall market conditions remain very similar to last quarter, with no significant shifts in pricing trends or buyer activity. While demand remains healthy for quality aircraft, the pace of the market has continued to normalize after the exceptionally strong conditions experienced over the past several years.
-
Transactions are taking longer to complete. Buyers have become more deliberate in their purchasing decisions, resulting in longer negotiation periods, increased pre-purchase inspections, and extended financing timelines. Aircraft that would have sold within a matter of weeks a year ago are now commonly remaining on the market for several months.
-
Overall transaction volume remains lower. Fewer aircraft are changing hands as both buyers and sellers adjust to current market conditions. Higher borrowing costs, economic uncertainty, and a more balanced supply of available aircraft have reduced the urgency that characterized the post-pandemic market.
-
The market has shifted in favor of buyers. Only a handful of highly desirable models continue to command seller's market conditions. Most helicopter models have transitioned into a buyer's market, giving purchasers greater negotiating leverage on price, maintenance adjustments, and closing terms.
-
Aircraft condition and total time continue to drive demand. Low-time, well-maintained helicopters with complete maintenance records are attracting significant buyer interest and often sell shortly after entering the market. In contrast, higher-time aircraft are experiencing substantially longer marketing periods as buyers become increasingly selective and carefully compare available inventory before making purchasing decisions.
Supply and Transaction Volume:
Available aircraft have dropped slightly from last quarter but are still hovering between 1,023 and 1,085 available aircraft for the past 4 quarters. Transactions this past quarter came up slightly from last quarter. Q1 and Q2 transactions are normally lower than Q3 and Q4 transactions, so we expect activity to start picking up going through year-end.
Please note that all Q2 2026 figures shown in the accompanying charts are preliminary and subject to revision as additional verified transaction data is received and processed in the coming months. Chart data provided by JETNET Marketplace.
Piston Helicopters
Market Overview
The piston helicopter market remained stable during the quarter. Inventory continues to be limited, supporting stable values despite slower transaction activity. Low-time Robinson helicopters continue to sell quickly, while older, higher-time aircraft are experiencing longer marketing periods as buyers become increasingly selective. Overall, the market remains balanced, with demand for quality aircraft continuing to support values.
