"
It is good to have an end to journey toward;
but it is the journey that matters in the end."
Ursula K. LeGuin
.
Dear Southern Door Community,
As we enter these last three weeks of school (two for our seniors), we realize all the steps that have been taken by our students this year on their journey in our schools and later on, as they graduate.
That was certainly the message of our Alumni Hall of Fame honorees. Barth Guilette talked about how the love of learning he got from his schooling at Southern Door helped him in both his career and his volunteer work. Tony Klaubauf used the Mother's Day weekend to read a letter he wrote to his mother, who had passed away when he was young. In the letter, he told her of his wishes for the students, that they would find their passion and at times, take risks to discover new things. Both men talked about the importance of their families and their communities. What great ambassadors these alumni are for the difference a Southern Door graduate can make once they leave our school!
Our athletic teams are doing great, our music programs preparing for their final concerts, and classrooms completing final projects and activities. This week, we continue the end-of-year celebrations with the Student Recognition program. It is our collective teamwork that comes together to support all of our students in their accomplishments and yes, even their challenges. As a community, including others and helping them be the best they can be, helps us all be Eagle Proud and Eagle Strong!
Patti
Patricia Vickman, Superintendent

DISTRICT & SCHOOL NOTIFICATIONS - IS YOUR ACCOUNT UP TO DATE?
Please be sure that you update your parent information on the Parent Portal in Infinite Campus. With a recent notice, some people did not receive the communication and here are some of the causes:
1) If you opt out of email messages, when they come to you, it deletes your email from the system, and no future messages will come.
2) If you change your email and don't update the Parent Portal, you won't get the message.
There were a few glitches we found with some external gmail accounts and we are working to see if it is an internal or external issue. If everything is accurate, and you still are not getting accurate messages, we encourage you to call your child's school office to problem-solve the situation.

LSEN'S ARTWORK CHOSEN FOR JURIED ART SHOW
Congratulations to Austin Olsen,
who is one of one of 37 artists with work on display at the 74th Art Annual juried art show at the Neville Public Museum in Green Bay.
The judging is blind, so no one knew anything about Olsen when his work was selected for the show.
The piece that was selected, "Untitled Two Waves" is an acrylic paint and multimedia piece that was two years in the making, according to his mom.
