Florida’s 2026 Legislature:

What Happened to the Worst of the Worst

Because of persistent advocacy and collective action, meaningful protections held this session.

FFDI Board member and public policy consultant Bob Schaefer delivered a sharp, concise, and analytical overview of eleven legislative proposals that threatened democracy, freedom, the rule of law, and voting rights during Florida’s 2026 legislative session. He thanked FFDI/FFD participants and our “collaborative allies” for their dedicated advocacy, which helped defeat 8 of the 11 most dangerous proposals—nearly 73%—introduced this session.
