VPD Cadets: Help Shape Vancouver's Future Leaders

When Jasleen Bahia joined the VPD Cadet Program as a teenager, she was looking for an opportunity to grow. The program helped shape her future, opening doors to scholarships, university and a career serving her community.

But her story didn’t end there.

When Jasleen saw boys struggling with the transition into high school, she remembered what the Cadet Program had given her and wanted to offer that opportunity to others.

With support from a Vancouver Police Foundation Grant, she created Elevate, a mentorship program that gives vulnerable youth positive role models, practical life skills and a place to belong. In its first year:

  • 37 boys received mentorship.
  • 1,000 nutritious meals were served
  • 390 hours of support were provided.

An investment in Jasleen became an investment in dozens of other young people. That’s the impact Cadets can have, and another 90 Cadets just began their journey, each with the potential to make a difference, thanks to donors like you.

Be Empowered. Learn Personal Safety Skills.

Women ages 16 and older are invited to join the VPD Women’s Personal Safety Team for its free annual full-day workshop on Saturday, October 17, 2026, downtown Vancouver.

Led by female VPD officers, this women-only workshop teaches practical, easy-to-remember personal safety tactics and is funded by the Vancouver Police Foundation. No prior training is needed.

Two initiatives need your support.

This September, 90 young people have begun VPD Cadets, a proven leadership experience that helps youth discover confidence, purpose and possibility.

At the same time, nearly 100 Community Grants are ready to launch, giving Vancouver Police officers the resources to solve problems they’ve identified on the front lines.
