Farmington STEAM Academy teacher, Elizabeth Beer, named the 2024 Leonard Cercone Teacher of the Year
Farmington STEAM Academy (FSA) ASD teacher, Elizabeth Beer, was named the Leonard Cercone Teacher of the Year at The Arc of Oakland County Dove Awards. The 53rd Annual Dove Awards and Online Auction took place on March 15, 2024 at the San Marino Club in Troy.
The Arc of Oakland County advocates for the rights and participation of all children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The 2024 Dove Awards is a fundraiser the Arc of Oakland County holds to raise money, awareness, and to honor their award recipients. The Dove Awards feature many different awards.
Elizabeth was named the Leonard Cercone Teacher of the Year. This award is given to a classroom teacher or program instructor in Oakland County who has demonstrated creativity and enthusiasm in teaching students with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
Elizabeth has created a sense of safety for students to express themselves. Whether it be a holiday, special event, or an ordinary day, she is eager to make sure her students feel involved and included.
At the end of the school year, she created a yearbook specifically for her class highlighting every month, every student, and every activity. She also goes out of her way to connect with the parents of her students and provides them with her knowledge and resources. These are a few reasons why she was named the Leonard Cercone Teacher of the Year.
Congratulations, Elizabeth! Thank you for all the work you do for our District!
