Dear Beloved Community,
Your new Board met on July 13, 2020. We extended a warm welcome and much gratitude to our newest members, Sue McCowin as President-Elect, Janet Burns as Treasurer and Ivy Sitkoski as Trustee. Michael Bissett moved from the Secretary Position to Trustee. Irene Raven moved from Temporary President-Elect to Secretary. Steve Lyons remained as Trustee and Leah Mikkelson as President. We also looked forward to working with Rev. Jennifer Gracen-Gray when she arrives.
We decided that the best way of keeping you informed of Board matters would be to send out these notes after the meetings to keep you abreast of any pertinent decisions or conversations.
During our discussion of the Treasurer’s report with Janet we determined that we want to keep
Don Metivier’s generous pledge, which is earmarked for the minister for 5 years, separate when reporting on our monthly fiscal health. This should give us a more realistic picture of where we are and where we are heading financially.
We discussed COVID-19 and determined for now that we would continue to hold services by Zoom and would continue with our current guidelines for building usage. Reassessment will be ongoing. We aim to be flexible as the statistics and guidelines change.
Our next board meeting will be on Monday, August 10th and our retreat is planned for August 15. We will be consulting with Rev. Jenn to finalize an agenda for the retreat. Possible topics to discuss and reflect on might include Mission/Vision; supporting antiracism initiatives reflecting national UUA priorities; the role of the Board in the life of the congregation; long and short term goals and projects; tracking and accountability; the role of offices and trustees on the Board; review of the Bylaws and Policy and Procedures; format for Board meetings; accessing Dropbox; calendar and project tracking; Right Relations team training; interim period tasks; and restorative circles for the Right Relations team and others.
