LETTER FROM KBR EXECUTIVE OFFICER, Karen Ono:
Aloha Everyone:

As we close 2020 and open 2021, we are reminded of the many changes that COVID presented and how we adjusted to provide information to our members and the community.

If you missed The Garden Island Publication on December 31, 2020, I am including the articles that were submitted by various authors for your reference.

REALTORS ….. in, of and for the community – through Government Affairs written by Heidi Schemp, 2021 GAC Committee Chair. As most of us were stuck at home in 2020, our county council was very busy pumping out new legislation. Bill 2774 was the long awaited housing bill introduced by KipuKai Kualii. Council worked on 5 drafts of the bill and the process took over 6 months. The KBR government affairs committee actively followed all the changes and submitted testimony. We are all too aware of the lack of affordable housing and wanted to do all we could to push for changes that would best serve the community. Our committee will be tracking to see if the changes that were put into law make any difference and we will continue to advocate for more affordable housing.

LETTER FROM KBR PRESIDENT, Martie Law:

I am truly honored to be elected as the 2021 Kauai Board of REALTORS President. The road to my presidency has been a three-year journey. Beginning as Vice President, with HARLA leadership training, and some serious on the job crash courses. I have learned a ton along the way!

Many people think that being successful in real estate is as simple as getting through your licensing class and off you go! Not true. There is a well-oiled machine behind the scenes constantly and methodically chugging away at everything that makes a real estate transaction a success.
