City Manager Weekly Update
Open Streets Los Altos - Update
As we enter the fifth week of Open Streets, we want to provide a brief reminder of recent program changes.

Open Streets Los Altos runs weekly, Thursday through Sunday until September 28. Specific sections of Main and State Streets will be closed to traffic to allow additional outdoor dining and displays, and social distancing. The closed streets are lined with various orange barricades to indicate the streets closures. The closed streets:

  • Main Street from 1st to 2nd
  • Main Street from 2nd to 3rd
  • State Street from 2nd to 3rd
  • 4th Street between Pompeii and Wells Fargo (Friday-Sunday)

We urge residents to walk, bike, or rideshare with a variety of open parking plazas, and designated bike rakes and drop-off/pick-up zones available. While we encourage biking, skateboarding, or scootering to Open Streets Los Altos, it is not allowed on the closed streets; Open Streets Los Altos is pedestrian-only.

Face coverings are required within Open Streets Los Altos , so don't forget your face covering at home! Those exempted from wearing a face covering:
  • When eating or drinking
  • Children under the age of two
  • Anyone who has trouble breathing, is incapacitated, or otherwise unable to remove a face covering without assistance
  • Anyone who has been advised by a medical professional not to wear a face covering

Maintaining Transparency Within Our Community
The Los Altos Police Department is dedicated to providing the highest level of professional service to the community, promoting positive interactions, and building strong community partnerships. National and local events have prompted questions about our policies and procedures, which are available on our Department webpage. In addition, inquiries have been made pertaining to our complaint, arrest, and citation data.

We recognize that transparency is essential in maintaining trust, confidence, and partnerships with the community that we serve every day. In response to the inquiries that we have received, we have prepared a statistical report* outlining several key areas of interactions with the community. I hope you find this information valuable and I look forward to your comments as we continue to serve the Los Altos community.

COMING TOGETHER
Community Services Agency Fundraiser: Virtual Wine Tasting
Have you enjoyed drinking wine during the quarantine? Have you wanted to make a positive impact on your community? Well, now you can combine the two! Join CSA's Young Professionals group on  Friday, August 7th, from 4:30 to 6:00PM , for a cause that benefits our community, all while learning more about wine.

This year, we are partnering with  Hook and Ladder Winery  to bring you a fabulous wine tasting event that you can enjoy from the comfort of your home. The tasting will feature three of their estate wines which can be purchased before the event and shipped to your door. Whether you feel you don't know much about wine or you're a pro - the winery will cover the basics and also go deep into the tasting notes for those more experienced. You'll also have an opportunity to meet some of the CSA team working on the front lines and learn more about how CSA's Young Professionals group is making a difference in the community.

For purchases made before the event, Hook and Ladder is generously donating 50% of all proceeds from sales of these featured wines. Not only that, they are offering a shipping discount using the code  CSACARES  at check-out. All three wines will be featured in the event, and there is no minimum purchase. That being said, good wine and 50% being donated back to CSA should be ample reasons to buy more.

Here's how to participate:
Register for a  free ticket here  to get access to the online event and receive event updates.
Go to this special  Hook and Ladder CSA link   to order your wine. Please order by August 4th to allow time for shipping, and make sure to use the special promo code  CSACARES  at checkout for a shipping discount.
Share this event with any wine-loving friends who would be interested in helping those in need in our community. You don't have to be a Young Professional to participate. For more information, please contact  CSAYP@googlegroups.com .  We look forward to seeing you on August 7th!

P.S.   Even if you can't attend the virtual tasting, you can still purchase wine to support CSA or donate directly to the cause by  clicking here .
