Many topics were discussed as the Tribe and County continue to increase collaborative efforts and strengthen relationships!

Swimming Advisories

Casino Beach and Chicago Creek Mouth

As of October 4, 2024, the mouth of Chicago Creek and the Casino Beach are under a swim advisory. Due to elevated E. coli levels, the Red Cliff Environmental Department is testing water quality in nearby waterbodies. Until water quality levels are determined to be at safe levels, the mouth of Chicago Creek and the Casino Beach will continue to be CLOSED to swimming and any water contact activities.

The Environmental Department will continue to test on a weekly basis until levels recede to acceptable counts. Testing will occur again this week and updates will be provided on the status of the advisory.

Please forward any questions to the Red Cliff Environmental Department by calling 715-779-3650.

Community Displays: Wild Food Harvesting

Red Cliff’s GLITC SNAP-ED Nutritional Educator Manzanita Peterson continues to revamp various educational displays in Gaa-Miskwaabikaang.

Peterson's most recent displays feature information on wild food harvesting, including topics like safe fish, lead, venison and wild plant food practices, and manoomin harvesting information.

Peterson worked with Red Cliff Facility Maintenance, who did a wonderful job installing the signs, Food Distribution staff, and GLITC Snap-Ed program.

The displays can be viewed at the Boys & Girls Club, Mino Bimaadiziiwin Tribal Farm, and the four summer food sites (Red Cliff Food Distribution, New Housing Park, Hill Side Park, and Birch Bark Trail Park).

1934 Project Accepting Submissions

We need your help! Share your family photos

90 years ago this April, a census was taken of Red Cli members. With the Indian Reorganization Act of that year and the 1935-36 Constitution, this census became one of the two base rolls for Red Cliff membership.

To commemorate this anniversary, the Enrollment Office is looking for a photograph of every Red Cliff tribal member around at that time. Eventually, we hope to add personal memories and stories, digitally archive the material, and make it all available to the public.

Click HERE to see the list of members or to submit photos and material online.

We need your help! There are two ways to share your family photos with the 1934 Project. Click the button below or bring material to the admin office during normal work hours. We can scan photos on the spot and return the originals to you. Email rcenrollment@redcliff-nsn.gov with any questions or feedback. Miigwech!

Thank you to Naomi Bressler for the picture of your parents on their wedding day, as well as the clipping of your grandfather Henry “Scotty” Morrin. We also have this mysterious photo of five sharply-dressed men, probably in the 1910s or ’20s. Karen Nemmers, who sent it in, identified the man in the back with the check mark as her great-grandfather Joe Baker, but wasn’t able to provide any more information. Can you help us out?
