Every Community. Every Riding. Tourism Counts.
Tourism contributes nearly $8 billion to BC’s GDP annually. It employs over 163,000 British Columbians and generates over $2.1 billion in provincial and municipal tax revenues. Now there’s a new way to explore its footprint closer to home.
We’ve partnered with Tourismo to launch Tourism Counts, a free, non-partisan interactive platform featuring tourism-related business counts and estimated employment across all 93 provincial ridings.
It puts local evidence in the hands of residents, operators and elected officials to help inform decisions about tourism’s future—and build support for the policies, infrastructure and investment our industry needs to grow.
This is just the beginning. Together, we’ll continue developing the resource to strengthen tourism advocacy through the election and beyond.
See how tourism counts in your community.

TOURISM HR SPOTLIGHT WITH go2HR

Ergonomics Month | go2HR Resources to Prevent Strain and Injury at Work
Musculoskeletal injuries (MSIs) are among the most common injuries in BC’s tourism and hospitality industry, and October’s Ergonomics Month is a great opportunity to help teams work more comfortably and safely. MSIs typically develop from repetitive motions, awkward postures, heavy lifting, and prolonged standing, all of which are part of many tourism roles.
Prevention often comes down to everyday habits and smart workplace setup. Lifting with the legs, pivoting with the feet instead of twisting, and taking micro-breaks all help reduce strain. Supervisors can reinforce these habits through short team safety talks and by encouraging staff to report early signs of discomfort.
go2HR’s free resources make it easy to get started:
go2HR also offers task-specific safety talks on pushing and pulling, emptying waste, cleaning, and more.
Find all MSI prevention resources in the link below.
