CPDA Welcomes New Member Ring Container

CPDA is pleased to welcome Ring Container Technologies as its newest member.

As the Business Council for Agrotechnology, CPDA’s member support drives advocacy on key issues impacting the crop protection value chain, including reducing EPA’s PRIA and non-PRIA registration backlogs, advancing science-based Endangered Species Act solutions, and supporting practical policies that help bring effective tools to growers.

Ring Container Technologies is a leading manufacturer of HDPE and PET containers with more than five decades of packaging experience. They support the advancement of safe, sustainable, and innovative packaging solutions within the agricultural chemical market.

Iowa Agriculture Leaders Engage EPA Administrator Zeldin

EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin met with representatives of the Iowa Farm Bureau, Iowa Soybean Association, Iowa Corn Growers Association, and local agricultural producers during a farmers’ roundtable in Iowa this week.

The discussion provided agricultural leaders an opportunity to engage directly with the Administrator on EPA policies affecting farmers, including access to crop protection tools and the importance of timely regulatory decisions.

Reducing EPA’s pesticide registration backlog remains a top CPDA priority. A predictable and efficient registration process is critical to maintaining farmer access to crop protection products and allowing registrants to bring new products, adjuvants, and inert ingredients to market.

CPDA appreciates Iowa Farm Bureau and other agricultural partners continuing to engage EPA on issues important to farmers and the crop protection industry.

CPDA Works with EPA on Inert Ingredient Registration and Data Compensation

CPDA met with EPA this week to advance two initiatives aimed at reducing registration delays and simplifying the data compensation process for members.

Jeremy Malone, Chair of CPDA’s Inerts Committee, joined CPDA President and CEO Terry Kippley and Ray McAllister in the discussion.

Inert Ingredient Trade Names

EPA reported increased confidence in the accuracy of its confidential trade name inert ingredient database. CPDA will engage several member manufacturers to help verify information in the system and identify inconsistencies that can contribute to registration rejections or delays.

Data Compensation

CPDA and EPA also discussed a potential path to include “Offer to Pay” email addresses for data owners in EPA’s Pesticide Data Submitters List. If implemented, the change could reduce the time and administrative burden registrants face when trying to contact data owners.

Both efforts support CPDA’s continued work to reduce avoidable registration delays, remove administrative hurdles, and improve the predictability of EPA’s pesticide registration process.

CPDA Names Rachel Pick Vice President of Government Relations

CPDA announced this week that Rachel Pick will join the association as Vice President of Government Relations, effective November 2.

Pick brings nearly 20 years of Washington experience, including service with U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley and senior USDA leadership during the first Trump administration. She served in the Office of Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue and later advised USDA General Counsel Stephen Vaden, now Deputy Secretary of Agriculture.

A fourth-generation Iowa corn and soybean farmer, Pick remains involved in her family’s 2,500-acre farming operation.

Most recently, Pick helped lead federal advocacy for AmericanHort on agricultural workforce policy, crop protection, the Farm Bill, and appropriations. She also chaired the Pesticide Policy Coalition’s Legislative Subcommittee, working with grower organizations to preserve access to crop protection tools.

“Rachel brings relationships at the highest levels of government and firsthand knowledge of production agriculture,” said Terry Kippley, CPDA President and CEO. “She understands how Washington works and what regulatory decisions mean for farmers and the businesses serving them.”

Pick succeeds Andrew Walmsley, who joined CPDA member company Atticus.

The Active Ingredient Series

Science has to solve real-world problems.

In this edition of The Active Ingredient, Darcy Brown of Battelle shares how independent, science-based data supports crop protection innovation, from new adjuvants and solvents for biologicals to stronger regulatory and stewardship outcomes.

He also discusses how connections through CPDA help Battelle focus its research on the challenges that matter most to our members.

Watch Darcy’s perspective on putting science to work for the industry.

This series gives CPDA members and industry leaders an opportunity to share their perspective on the issues, technologies, and opportunities shaping the crop protection industry.
