Message from Mayor Kapszukiewicz
Obviously, all of our efforts are directed toward protecting public health as we battle COVID-19, but we have to keep in mind that we will eventually pull through this. That is why I want to begin today's newsletter by emphasizing something positive.

We announced earlier today that the city and Metroparks Toledo are still working together on the development of the riverfront in East Toledo. This is a major investment and improvement of the waterfront property that stretches from the I-280 Bridge to International Park.

We will be asking Toledo City Council for approval to convey International Park to Metroparks Toledo, which will result in a net savings for Toledo residents through the reduction of maintenance costs such as major infrastructure repairs and grass mowing. It will allow the regional park system to drastically improve the property. We believe this will allow more access to the waterfront, increase tourism, and promote economic development. These improvements were essential for the nearby, and nearly complete, mixed-use Marina Lofts development to occur.
International Park was included in the master plans previously presented at public meetings, and is an essential piece of the future vision for the riverfront. Additionally, the new Glass City Metropark and International Park will be connected by a bike/pedestrian bridge over Main Street.

Amid our efforts to flatten the curve from COVID-19, we continue to keep our economic development momentum moving forward with this project.
I would like to again remind everyone to adhere to the governor's stay at home order.

As this lighthearted video shows, my family and I are doing what we can to flatten the curve and fight the spread of COVID-19.

I know it has been said many times, but it is true: we will get through this together.
Finally this week, I would like to remind everyone of several things:
