| | Report Illegal Signage in Jefferson Park! | | |
Have you noticed these signs popping up everywhere in the neighborhood? They are likely not legal. The four that have already been reported were not permitted by PDSD.
PDSD has asked for the address for each sign in order to process their legality. That is too many for a few people to do, but if everyone on their morning walk reports any of these they see the task will be easier! LINK TO REPORT
Help us remove these commercial signs from Jefferson Park. This is a neighborhood not a downtown market strip!
| | |
Tucson Planning and Development Services tells us
" We have conducted a review of the addresses you identified before and believe they are out of compliance. I would request you file a separate report for each visible sign so we can formally initiate the code enforcement process.
In some cases, they may be eligible to receive a permit, in others they may not. We don’t know until we investigate the location of each one.
I have confirmed that our signs staff has not permitted any of the ones identified previously. CE violations may be submitted here:
https://docs.tucsonaz.gov/Forms/EGSD-Code-Enforcement-Violation-Report "

FEBRUARY HELICOPTER REPORT:
101 ARRIVALS: 31 not compliant with MOU
101 DEPARTURES: 21 not compliant with MOU
6 resident calls
If you live in Jefferson Park, there should be no helicopters bound for Banner Hospital over your house. Jefferson Park has an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) that all helicopters must enter and leave south of the hospital.
Place this number in your phone and just call that number-it is quick and easy and helps inform Banner.
Call BUMC Security: 520-694-6533, just give location of helicopter-no need to give your name

| | Thank you Green Committee chairs, Erin and Micheal for planning this event. Vine Ave looks better! Also, thanks to volunteers who pulled weeds, were attacked by red ants and sweated-Laurel Heather,Jeanne, Misty, Joan. | | | |
Lots of work, but lots of great conversations!
When you see 'em talk to them or join in!
| | |
"We had a successful clean up this morning thanks to our intrepid weed warriors: Misty McCormick, Joan Daniels, Laurel-Heather Milden, and Jeanne Calhoun joined Micheal and I to clean up and beautify Vine Ave. Many thanks to our volunteers for hula hoe-ing, hand-pulling, weed-wacking, raking, and sweeping for multiple hours!
We didn't have enough volunteers to complete Vine Ave down to Chauncey, but we did make it almost to Hampton with just the six of us!
Our main focus was removing weeds at the corner of Grant and Vine and cleaning up a major infestation of bermuda grass that had taken over rainwater basins just south of Edison.
You can read more about our work and see before and after photos on our Green and Clean Committee page.
We plan to continue the work on Vine in coming weeks, date TBD!"
Thanks,
Erin & Micheal, Green & Clean Committee Co-Chairs

| | The Jefferson Park Linear Trail Committee Update | |
.Neighbors reported concerns:
*fires, encampments
*fear of emptying garbage when opening their back gate
*human waste against their walls
*Due to safety issues, cannot walk children on the trail any longer
Police indicated:
*Park closure earlier than 10:30PM would help
Note: People can be removed by police if park is officially closed
*More lighting would help Note: lighting would not shine in neighborhood but be oriented into the Linear Park-possibly motion activated
*Police will try to get more coverage
Attendees commented:
- Folks sleeping on benches-possibly move benches to Grant Road edge or create a divider so sleeping could not occur
- Possibly create a walking club to keep the park full of people
- Schedule a neighborhood clean up
- Partner with Parks and Recreation to find solutions
- Cut back overgrowth so park is visible from Grant and the alley
- Street lights along Grant are out. Very dark at night. Need to be fixed ASAP

| | City Council to Hear TEP Appeal - Update | | Reporting Code Violations | | Illegal Signs in neighborhood | | |
Bandit or Wildcat signs like We Buy Junk Cars or Houses or Test Strips, etc. are illegal so feel free to take them down and get rid of them. Often they are put up very high and with power tools. If that's the case, submit a report to Code Enforcement and they will come around and take them down. Call 311 or CLICK HERE to submit online report to Code Enforcement.
Yard Sale Signs: we hope we'll all be good neighbors and allow to remain up during the time someone is holding their yard sale, but feel free to take it down after the sale if they don't do that themselves.
Lost and Found Pet Signs: Technically they're illegal, but have a heart and leave them alone.
Political Signs: There are all kinds of regulations that do allow these on public Right of Ways. 15 days after the election is over, they are supposed to be taken down and removed
(Thank you Garden District)
