CELEBRATING ST. LUKE'S DAY ON THE JAPONICA CAMPUS

H-H-H-H is for HAT! Our K2 Wildcats had a hat-tastic time celebrating the letter H with a special Hat Day! From baseball caps to cowboy hats and everything in between, our littlest Wildcats showed off their favorite hats while having fun learning their letters. What a fun way to make learning memorable!

LITTLE LEARNERS, BIG COMMUNITY HELPERS!

Our K2, K3, and K4 Wildcats have been learning all about community helpers and the important roles they play in keeping our community safe, healthy, and thriving!

Our littlest learners enjoyed special campus visits from local firefighters, Dr. Carol Parks and an ambulance crew, Dr. Mullins, Mr. Griffin for a look at construction, police officers, and Nurse McCleery! These hands-on experiences gave our students an exciting opportunity to learn about different professions and the people who make a difference in our community every day.

A BIG thank you to all of our wonderful community helpers for sharing their time, knowledge, and talents with our youngest Wildcats! We are so grateful for the incredible community support that makes learning fun at St. Luke’s!

EXPLORING FUTURE CAREERS IN HEALTHCARE

St. Luke’s Biomedical Sciences Interventions classes visited the University of South Alabama’s Covey College of Allied Health Professions for a full day of hands-on learning and career exploration!

Students toured programs in Radiologic Sciences, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech Pathology & Audiology, Biomedical Sciences, Emergency Medical Services, and Physician Assistant Studies. They also visited the university’s Simulation Center and College of Nursing, gaining an up-close look at the technology, training, and skills used by healthcare professionals.

These experiences allow our Biomedical Sciences students to connect classroom learning to real-world applications while exploring potential careers in healthcare.

A special thank you to Dr. Charles Erwin, Associate Dean for Community Engagement, for coordinating such an extensive and engaging experience! We are grateful for our continued partnership with the University of South Alabama and the valuable opportunities it provides our future

healthcare professionals.

ST. LUKE'S TAKES A STAND AGAINST BULLYING

Throughout October, St. Luke’s kindergarten through 4th-grade students participated in meaningful activities recognizing National Bullying Prevention Month. Each week, students explored important topics, including recognizing bullying, understanding the differences between rude and mean behavior, and learning what it means to be a bystander versus an upstander.

Our kindergarten got creative by making “Stop Bullying!” wind chimes to raise awareness and spread messages of kindness. Meanwhile, our 4th graders participated in an interactive activity called “Squeeze Out Bullying!”, inspired by the book The Juice Box Bully, which they read with Mrs. Wallace. Working in teams, students tackled bullying scenarios, discussed positive ways to respond, and earned puzzle pieces for each completed challenge. Together, they assembled the pieces to reveal an important message:

“IT TAKES ALL OF US TO SQUEEZE OUT BULLYING!”

At St. Luke’s, character development is an important part of our students’ education. Through weekly and biweekly Character Education classes from Pre-K through 5th grade, we help students build a strong foundation of kindness, empathy, respect, and responsibility. Research highlighted by StopBullying.gov emphasizes the importance of developing social-emotional skills and introducing bullying prevention strategies early in childhood.

These activities remind our Wildcats that everyone has a role in creating a safe, welcoming,

and supportive school community where kindness matters and everyone belongs!

6TH GRADERS EXPLORE THE GREAT OUTDOORS

Some of our 6th-grade Wildcats recently enjoyed an overnight adventure at the Alabama 4-H Science School in Columbiana, Alabama! Located on 200 acres of beautiful forestland along Lay Lake, the trip provided students with an exciting opportunity to explore nature beyond the classroom.

Through hands-on outdoor lessons, nature exploration, and adventurous activities, students gained valuable environmental knowledge while making memories and strengthening friendships.

What a fun way to combine learning, adventure, and the great outdoors!

A SHOUT-OUT FOR MAKING GREAT CHOICES

We love celebrating our Wildcats for doing great things on the Japonica Campus!

Students who are spotted making good choices, showing kindness, demonstrating respect, or going out of their way to help a student or adult may earn a special Wildcat Shout-Out!

During Chapel, Mrs. Wallace recognizes these students and gives each one a Shout-Out card to take home and proudly share with their families.

It’s one more way we can celebrate the everyday choices that make our school community such a special place. Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness and character can make the BIGGEST difference!

Keep it up, Wildcats - you never know when YOU might earn the next Shout-Out!
