Community, Confidence, and Connection

October centered on unity and engagement. During National Faith & Blue, FLC participated in a

community-wide event that brought together youth, families, faith leaders, and law enforcement for an

afternoon of inspiration, mentorship, and relationship-building through music, speakers, and interactive

activities.

Later in the month, students participated in the White Table Cloth Experience, where Chef Jeff and the Pen or Pencil Hustlepreneur

program used culinary arts as a platform to teach discipline, confidence, and purpose. FLC also appeared as the Inside Out Crew at the City of Lancaster’s Halloween Haunt, demonstrating positive youth engagement and leadership in the community.

Teen Talk: Youth 4 Justice offered two days of learning, dialogue, and hands-on experiences. Students connected directly with justice system agencies and explored justice, equity, and civic responsibility through workshops and simulations.

Youth engaged with justice system agencies, including CHP, LASD, DEA, Lancaster Police Department, attorneys, judges, and community advocacy organizations, gaining a deeper understanding of the justice system and pathways for involvement.

The AV Youth Advisory Committee further demonstrated leadership by supporting a community toy drive hosted by the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station. Students assisted with toy distribution, engaged with families and deputies, and gained valuable leadership exposure through conversations with Congressman George Whitesides and local media.
