Wow! It’s hard to believe that it’s March! Spring fever is definitely in the air. However, as we know, Wisconsin weather is unpredictable, and we’re sure to have some cold and snowy days ahead. Please remember to send students with appropriate clothing, as we go outside if the temperature is above zero.

Important Reminder: Background Check Renewals

Two years ago, we implemented a new background check process with Raptor Technologies. Background checks are valid for two years, so most of our volunteers' checks will be expiring or have already expired.

Benefits of Completing a Background Check

  • Streamlined Entry for School Events: Completing a background check will streamline the process of entering school buildings for school functions and events.
  • Support for Spring Field Trips: If you plan to chaperone any upcoming spring field trips, please renew or complete your background check now to avoid any last-minute delays.

Here's what you need to do

We appreciate your continued support of the Baraboo School District!

EAST SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

Legion Visits 4th Graders

East 4th graders recently received a special visit from the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 26 of Baraboo. For the third year, they shared the powerful story of the red poppy, a symbol of remembrance for those who served. Students learned how the poppy's significance began during World War I in Flanders Fields and how it continues to honor the sacrifices of U.S. military soldiers today. The students then created beautiful posters, that will be displayed throughout the community, as a tribute to our heroes. A heartfelt thank you to the Legion for this important and moving presentation!

Indoor Recess Fun

Even chilly February weather couldn't dampen our spirits! When indoor recess was called, our amazing 5th graders and enthusiastic 4K students teamed up for some heartwarming fun. It was truly beautiful to witness the kindness and care our older students showed, while the 4K kiddos proudly shared their favorite play spaces. A perfect example of how our school community comes together, even when we're stuck inside!

Spreading Cheer to Wisconsin Veterans!

This February, our students joined a meaningful mission: creating Valentine's Day cards for Wisconsin veterans! Partnering with their buddy classrooms, they crafted heartfelt messages of appreciation to be delivered to veterans residing in Wisconsin Department of Veteran Affairs facilities. Inspired by the WDVA's "Valentines for Wisconsin Veterans" initiative, our students learned about the importance of honoring those who have served. Thank you to everyone who participated in this wonderful act of kindness!

EAST SCHOOL PARENT GROUP

The East School Parent Group (ESPG) has many plans underway for ways to support the students and staff at East. The funds we raise throughout the year are used by classroom teachers and to support special school projects and events, such as the Pumpkin Walk and school Carnival!

There are a couple of easy ways to support the ESPG with things you're probably already doing. Follow our facebook page for volunteer opportunities, donate to our Venmo account for special events, and you can even earn money for the school by scanning eligible receipts with the Box Tops for Education app.

We would love to see you at our meetings, held the first Tuesday of each month in the Library at East from 6pm-7pm. Can’t attend? No problem! Visit our Facebook page to just learn more about ways you can help out. If you have any questions about ESPG, send us an email espgbaraboo@gmail.com or a Facebook message.

Future meetings:

April 8th

May 6th
