Jon Schlegel founded Snooze an A.M Eatery with the motto, “It only takes a moment to make a difference.” Once he completed his first dream of opening a restaurant by age 30, it was time to move onto dream number two — living abroad before he was 40. And so it began. Jon and his wife, Megan, moved to Monforte d’Alba in Piedmont, Italy with their son in 2013, settling on the Ginestra hill and purchasing their own small Barolo vineyard. In Italy, Jon spent his days working and learning in the vineyards and wineries from producers whose families have been making wine in the region for generations. After returning to his native home of Denver, Jon wanted to bring a piece of Italy back with him to share with Colorado. So Attimo was born.
We chose the name Attimo, which means “moment” in Italian, for many reasons. The main inspiration came from the giant purple bench that overlooks the medieval city of Monforte. It is such a special moment to experience. Perched on an oversized bench looking at a beautiful city with so much history and so much culture you can’t help but stop and pause to just soak in the moment, il attimo. We are fortunate to enjoy a great glass of wine in many of the special moments life brings us. A little bit of bubbly to celebrate, an incredible bottle of Barolo to celebrate the holidays, or a glass of Dolcetto to enjoy a peaceful moment at home. With Attimo we want to share each special moment of everyday life in Italy here in Denver.
Grapes are sourced from some of the best vineyards in Piedmont, including our own small Barolo vineyard, before being pressed and brought to Colorado to be finished in our own winery where we will age, blend, and bottle the wines.
This weekend, Kirk Jorgensen, Attimo Sales Director, takes us on a tour of their Denver facility and walks us through the three current offerings - all of which are offered at 10% off this weekend. There are a total of five video snippets to watch, grab a bottle (or all three) and sip with us...
Attimo Bianco is 100% Arneis. Pale straw yellow color with fresh floral, citrus and melon aromas with hints of almond. An unbaked, dry, medium bodied white wine with crisp acidity. The Arneis is a well balanced, elegant wine with great complexity and a lingering finish.
Attimo Rosato is 10% Sangiovese and 90% Bombino Bianco. This delicious rosé was made with a combination of Bombino Bianco grapes which lend great acidicity and fruit and Sangiovese for a touch of rich color and body. Best enjoyed chilled, this wine has a slight effervescence and pairs well with light meat dishes, vegetables and salads.
Attimo Rosso is 35% Barbera, 35% Dolcetto, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Nebbiolo. Intense ruby red color, the wine displays hints of fruitiness marked by pleasant sensations of red berry fruits, herbs and spices. Barbera defines the color and fruit notes, while the dryness of the Dolcetto counterbalances the sweetness. The Cabernet adds spice and the Nebbiolo lends tannin and structure.
