Want to hear the latest on the planning process? Join the next steering committee meeting and listen in

Did you know that the Near Northwest Area Plan steering committee meets monthly? Did you know that you can join those meetings?

The steering committee is a group of residents, local business owners and representatives of neighborhood groups and community organizations from every neighborhood in the planning area. Their role is to help guide the planning process, support public engagement and help create consensus at key points in the process. Meetings are open to the public, and all community members interested in staying up-to-date on the planning process are invited to attend and observe.

Join the meeting this Tuesday!

The committee, which meets every fourth Tuesday of the month, will be coming together this week to begin reviewing each topic that will be covered in the draft plan when it's posted for public review later this year. To start, the group will be discussing mobility recommendations, which will address safety improvements along neighborhood streets and intersections, new bikeways, future pedestrian-bike connections across major barriers and more!

Visit the plan website to see the recommendations that members of the public review during the most recent phase of community engagement.

What to look forward to in 2023

For the next few months, city planners will be taking the draft recommendations that were shared with the community this past fall and turning them into the first draft of the Near Northwest Area Plan. The draft will be shared with the public for review this summer. Keep an eye on this newsletter for updates and information on how to get involved as that work continues.

About the Near Northwest Area Plan
The Near Northwest Planning Area is made up of the Northwest Denver neighborhoods east of Federal Boulevard: Chaffee Park, Sunnyside, Highland, and Jefferson Park. As part of the Neighborhood Planning Initiative, this project provides an opportunity to create a long-term vision for these neighborhoods that furthers citywide goals and priorities while addressing local neighborhood needs.
