Fear and Wisdom

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.  For through me your days will be many, and years will be added to your life.   If you are wise, your wisdom will reward you; if you are a mocker, you alone will suffer"  (Proverbs 9:10-12).

A personal knowledge of God and reverential respect for his Divinity brings us greater wisdom. The Lord himself tells Solomon – who in turn tells us – that wisdom will add years to our lives. We reap benefits through that wisdom. But mocking it brings misery.

Apply it in prayer: Father, your servant Solomon understood the power of the wisdom you gave him. As a result, he shares that wisdom with us. Help me to be wise in all I do. That only comes with an intimate knowledge of you through a relationship with your son.
