ICRF Partnership with Lung Cancer Research Foundation

Leading organizations recognize Israel's leadership in the fight against cancer and understand the importance of partnerships to accelerate the quest for a cure. ICRF is thrilled to partner with the Lung Cancer Research Foundation on a collaborative grant to test an innovative new treatment for KRAS-mutant cancer.

This co-funded grant is led by Joel Yisraeli, PhD in the Department of Developmental Biology and Cancer Research at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. The project will study the effects of an IGF2BP1 inhibitor discovered by Professor Yisraeli and his team, building on previous ICRF-funded research.

Prof. Yisraeli has received several grants from ICRF over the years, including a Research Career Development Award (RCDA) that helped launch his successful career as a cancer scientist.

ICRF-Funded Scientist Research Updates - Recent Publications

Did you know that Israel has the largest number of scientific papers published per capita by a large margin?

We are proud that our researchers are part of this incredible statistic. Take a look below at a few recent publications highlighting ICRF-supported research by our scientists.

Smoking-Induced Lung Cancer - Dr. Sheera Adar

Grant: ICRF Project Grant

Institution: Hebrew University of Jerusalem-Hadassah School of Medicine

Journal: Nucleic Acids Research - January 2025

Publication Summary: DNA’s structure affects the risk of lung cancer from smoking by influencing how well the body repairs damage caused by cigarette smoke. The study reveals that efficient repair of DNA damage is more significant than the initial damage itself in reducing mutations and cancer risk.
