From BIAMI Board Chair, Tom Sinas:

I’m pleased to announce that Nichole Shotwell has been appointed by the Board of Directors of the Brain Injury Association of Michigan to serve as President and CEO, effective July 1st. This comes after a successful six months of Nichole serving as BIAMI’s Interim President and CEO following the retirement of Tom Constand last year.

Nichole brings extensive experience and in-depth knowledge of the issues facing the brain injury community in Michigan, having served the Association in her current capacity since 2015. During that time, she has maintained a consistent focus on providing support and assistance for all brain injury survivors, spearheading the creation and expansion of BIAMI Connects – the Association’s suite of social, recreational, and educational programming; launching the Carol Green Survivor Fund for those in immediate critical financial need; and strengthening BIAMI’s partnerships with key statewide organizations.

Nichole holds a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master of Social Work Degree from the University of Michigan and has held leadership positions in various nonprofit community organizations across the state. She served as Director of Special Needs Programs for the Jewish Community Center; Program Director for Meals on Wheels; Executive Director for Leukemia, Research, Life; and Patient Services Manager for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Nichole’s combination of leadership skills, industry experience, and existing relationships with colleagues, staff and donors eminently qualify for the position. Please join me in enthusiastically welcoming Nichole to her new role.
