Today marks the start of the Susan G. Komen 3-Day Race for the Cure in San Diego, an inspiring event that brings the community together for an incredible cause. This event symbolizes hope, resilience, and unwavering unity in the fight against breast cancer.
Winston staff and students were proud to show their support by hosting a cheering section on Camino del Mar, where they wore pink and handed out cups of orange juice. The energy was contagious as participants and supporters gathered to celebrate the strength of the walkers and their shared commitment to raising awareness and funding for breast cancer research.
The Susan G. Komen 3-Day is more than a walk; it is a powerful statement of solidarity and determination. We were honored to be part of such a significant cause and to stand with those working tirelessly for a future without breast cancer.
Moments like these remind us of the importance of lifting one another, promoting awareness, and continuing to contribute to research and support for those affected by this disease. Letās keep the spirit alive by sending encouragement and positive thoughts to all the amazing participants in this year's race.
Together, we can make a meaningful difference.

An Eye-Opening Journey into Justice: Winston Seniors Visit the San Diego County District Attorney's Office
Our high school seniors had an inspiring and educational visit to the North County|Superior Court of California on Wednesday, guided by Deputy District Attorney Drew Garrison, who is married to Principal Kelsey Garrison. This unique experience offered students a firsthand look at the legal system and its importance in upholding justice.
The day began with an exclusive courthouse tour, where students discovered the complexities of the judicial system. Walking through the corridors, they gained insight into how the court functions and the significant roles played by various legal community members.
A key highlight was that students observed two different preliminary hearings, where they watched both the prosecutor and public defender question witnesses about the cases under review. Afterward, students could speak with the judge and attorneys to ask questions and provide feedback. Mr. Garrison also answered students' questions and explained the role of preliminary hearings within the justice system.
Ollie, a Golden Retriever facility dog trained by Pawsitive Teams, added a compassionate touch to the day. Ollie provides emotional support to both children and adults involved in court proceedings, offering comfort in an intimidating environment. The students were moved by Ollie's role and the calm he brought to those around him.
This visit underscored the value of education enriched by community partnerships. The collaboration between Pawsitive Teams and Winston highlighted lessons in empathy, support, and the vital workings of a just society. The day's experiences will resonate with the students as they move forward, equipped with newfound knowledge and an appreciation for the legal process and the power of community care.
