THIS IS A TRAINING TESTIMONIAL FROM A PREVIOUS PART 121 COMMERCIAL F/A
"It has been 6 months since I had Susan’s 5 day Corporate Flight Attendant Training via ZOOM. I WAS a Part 121 commercial flight attendant. I was skeptical about my job prospects because of the state of the country and the spread of COVID and didn’t have high expectations to start flying soon. I was content to have the Corporate Flight Attendant Training and FACTS safety egress/evacuation training completed but to not fly for anyone for a while. I thought that if I did get an opportunity to fly in the near future it would just be icing on the cake and sporadically.
I followed all of Susan’s suggestions including building my resume, ordering business cards and putting together a packet with reference letters. She also suggested I research and locate all of the corporate flight departments in my area and ask who was hiring. I felt confident I was armed with the tools I needed to get a job when one was available however, it was up to me to keep the job.
Surprisingly, I got my first flight 3 months after her class. Susan’s class was extremely valuable to my success. I relied heavily on her training to have confidence and to do my job well and expeditiously. I should mention that I have previous experience as a commercial flight attendant for several years and although she told me corporate flying was a completely different job, aside from safety, I really didn’t grasp those differences until I finally flew my first flight on a corporate jet. Apples to oranges. Nothing at all similar to what I had done as a Part 121 commercial flight attendant for a MAJOR airline. And you cannot think this is anything like working a trip in First Class flying.
There are too many critical details to mention that Susan taught and they ALL translated into the real world. I want to highlight a few that I am extremely grateful to have learned. The pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight routine have been most helpful. I know what questions to ask pre-departure, what my many roles are as a Corporate Flight Attendant in each phase of the flight, and how to complete the flight once it is finished. The detail to this position is amazingly.
I have referenced Susan’s manual many times when I was negotiating and signing a contract to fly with a staffing company. I rely heavily on her catering lessons/teachings, how to order catering and how to prepare and serve the food safely. I often go back and read her manual details pertaining on how to take care of an aircraft, how to negotiate the best outcome for myself when considering contracts (salary vs. contract flying) and how to best organize myself for trips.
Other than the safety aspect, my current flying job is nothing like what I was doing when flying for the commercial airlines. Susan made this fact very clear however, more importantly she made my transition seamless. What I like most about working in the corporate/business aviation world is getting to personalize my service and getting to intimately know these AMAZING aircraft. And I especially like the high expectation to be discreet and professional. Whether you have no experience or you are coming into the corporate industry as a commercial flight attendant, I would highly recommend you spend the time and money to become familiar with corporate aviation and take Susan's training. I am sure you will learn more than you expect and find confidence in being more familiar with the industry".
