Greetings,

DID YOU KNOW that a study from International Journal of Hygiene and Environmental Health warns consumers of consistently choosing to eat conventional produce?

The researchers found that study subjects who consumed conventional produce, especially heavily sprayed fruits and vegetables such as strawberries, spinach, and bell peppers, showed higher pesticide levels in their urine.

However, switching from conventional to organic produce, which are not grown using certain synthetic pesticides, significantly lowered pesticide biomarkers within just a few days.

Infection Section UPDATED!

Year-round infection is the new normal. We are exposed to many endemic viruses including SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19), influenza (flu), respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), norovirus (stomach flu), adenovirus (common cold), monkeypox, and four other coronaviruses (common cold), among others. Support your immune system with our Free Prevent and Fight Infection 3.0 Protocol here.

Warning: Counterfeit, Adulterated Supplements Online

On the internet, especially at Amazon, there is an epidemic of counterfeit, adulterated, and purposely mislabeled dietary supplements. A recent analysis of methyl vitamin B12 supplements sold on Amazon found only 56% met label claim. A man was arrested for selling counterfeit Pure Encapsulations products. A study from JAMA Network Open found that half of immune products analyzed from Amazon had labels that did not match the contents. Know your supplier!

Have a happy, healthy day! Steve and Bonnie Minsky

The Skinny on Peptides

Steve: Either by the publishing of this piece or soon after, the FDA is going to allow compound manufacturers to compound peptides again. I thought I would bring some perspective for you.

What Are Peptides and Why Do People Take Them?

Peptides are small proteins - short chains of amino acids, the same building blocks that make up the food we eat and the muscles in our bodies. Your body naturally produces thousands of different peptides, and they act like tiny messengers, telling cells to repair tissue, release hormones, fight inflammation, or regulate metabolism. Because they mimic signals your body already uses, peptide therapy has attracted significant interest from doctors looking for more targeted tools for healing and optimization.

In recent years, compounding pharmacies have been formulating injectable and oral versions of specific peptides that are prescribed to patients for a wide range of goals: accelerating recovery from injury, improving sleep and growth hormone levels, supporting gut healing, enhancing sexual function, and even slowing aspects of aging. The appeal is understandable - these are not foreign chemicals, but molecules modeled on your body's own language.

Risks, Side Effects, and What We Don't Yet Know

Despite their natural origins, peptides carry real risks. Most compounded peptides have very limited human research - meaning that while animal studies and early clinical observations are often promising, we do not yet have the large, long-term safety studies that exist for standard medications.

Known side effects vary by peptide but can include injection site reactions (redness, swelling, pain), water retention, elevated blood sugar, nausea, headaches, and in some cases effects on cortisol or other hormones. For patients with a history of cancer, autoimmune disease, or who take blood thinners or immunosuppressive medications, the risks are less predictable and require especially careful medical supervision. Additionally, because many peptides stimulate growth pathways in the body, there is a theoretical - though not yet proven - concern about their use in people with undetected or prior malignancies.

The Hidden Risk: Contamination in the Manufacturing Process

Perhaps the least-discussed risk of compounded peptides has nothing to do with the peptide itself - it has to do with how and where it was made. Most peptide ingredients are synthesized overseas, primarily in China, and the quality of manufacturing varies widely.

During the production process, bacterial fermentation is used to create the amino acid building blocks of the peptide. If this process is not rigorously purified, microscopic bacterial debris called endotoxins can contaminate the final product. When injected, even tiny amounts of endotoxins can cause fever, chills, body aches, and inflammation - symptoms that are often mistaken for a reaction to the peptide itself.

Reputable compounding pharmacies test every batch for these contaminants and require documentation from their ingredient suppliers. However, not all pharmacies meet this standard, and patients purchasing peptides through telehealth platforms or unregulated online sources have little way of knowing what they are actually injecting.

While we discourage you from using peptides because there are safer therapies we can recommend for these purposes, the safest approach is to use only pharmacies classified as 503B outsourcing facilities, which are held to the highest federal manufacturing standards, and to ask your prescribing provider for documentation of third-party purity testing before beginning any peptide protocol.
