So Many New Faces!

This stunning panther is Smokey, a 15-year-old who was recently surrendered to the Valencia County Animal Shelter. Thankfully, a wonderful foster stepped up and took Smokey into her home. Despite being surrendered, and bouncing around multiple new environments, Smokey’s spirit remained strong. He even slept in bed with his foster mom his first night in her care. So sweet!

Smokey's golden years have brought some challenges. A full vet workup revealed he is diabetic requiring daily medication costing about $100 a month. He was also in desperate need of a dental which cost $650.

These hurdles won’t stop us from providing Smokey with the care he needs, but we need your help. Your support will be crucial in covering his medical expenses and ensuring he receives everything he needs to live his best life.

Smokey is looking for monthly sponsors to help cover the costs of his medication. You can sponsor him, by clicking HERE, or to make a one-time donation to his care, click HERE.

Meet My Boy, a 12-year-old senior cat who was pretty down on his luck. After losing his owner he was taken in by a rescue that soon realized he was facing severe health issues requiring more specialized care than they could provide, so they contacted JSCR.

It was easy to see My Boy was suffering from a debilitating case of stomatitis, making it nearly impossible for him to eat. Stomatitis causes painful oral ulcers. Our vet quickly arranged dental surgery to get My Boy some relief. The procedure was extensive, resulting in the removal of 15 teeth. This was a crucial step for alleviating his pain and setting him on the path to recovery.

Now on pain medication and getting supportive care, My Boy is slowly regaining his strength. In all, My Boy’s care cost over $1,700. However, after suffering for so long, we had to give him a chance to thrive, and soon we hope he will be enjoying the simple pleasures in life.

Your support makes it possible for us to help cats like My Boy. To donate towards the cost of his care, click HERE, or to become My Boy's monthly sponsor, click HERE.

At 18 years old, Hummer lost his beloved owner. His owner's family cherished him, but they were unable to take him in themselves. Despite this they wanted Hummer to find a safe place to continue life as the quintessential lap cat.

Now, Hummer is embarking on a new chapter of his life with JSCR. He has his initial vet evaluation on August 7th, a crucial step in ensuring he gets the care he needs. This evaluation will help us understand his health status and provide the necessary support to keep him comfortable and happy.

While this transition is undoubtedly challenging for Hummer, his story is one of love. That is something we intend to continue for the rest of his life. Welcome to June’s, sweet boy! There will always be a lap open for you here.

17-year-old Sasha came to June's from a shelter in Carlsbad, NM. She, like so many others, found herself in the shelter after her owner passed away.

This little beauty prefers humans to cats, but that's alright! We don't judge, and there's plenty of love to go around.

After her arrival, Sasha had a check-up with our vet. The results revealed that she has early-stage kidney disease and is hyperthyroid, so her new daily routine will include medication to manage her thyroid. Hyperthyroid is not uncommon in cats Sasha's age, but left untreated, it can cause painful conditions like glaucoma. We will make sure that never happens to her.

Your monthly sponsorship of Sasha will help ensure she gets the medication she needs. To sponsor Sasha, click HERE.

Delilah, an 11-year-old cat whose life changed when her beloved owner, a fellow rescuer and supporter of June’s, passed away.

Delilah is a hefty girl at 19.6 lbs, but that just means there's more of her to love! She is on a diet, but don't tell her that. She, like Sasha, prefers to be the sole queen of her castle, so she’s thriving in a single cat foster home where she gets the undivided attention she craves.

We’re grateful for her foster family’s dedication and are hopeful that Delilah will find a home to call her own. If you are interested in adopting Delilah, please fill out our adoption application HERE.
