New Beginnings!

We’re thrilled to kick off the 2024-2025 season with a fresh start, blending the familiar experiences you love with some exciting new additions!

First up, if you haven’t heard yet, we’ve launched our brand-new Piano Lab, led by the incredible Solo Pianist and Resident Musician Jacob Wang. Be sure to visit our page to get caught up on the latest updates!

We’re also excited to share that Music Haven’s resident quartet, the Haven String Quartet (HSQ), has a fresh new look. Joining HSQ this season is longtime Music Haven Resident Musician, Dr. Patrick Doane, who has been with us for seven years and has often been featured in past chamber concerts.

We’re also welcoming our newest Resident Musician, Linda Numagami (viola), who joins Philip Boulanger (cello), Yaira Matyakubova (violin), and Dr. Patrick Doane (violin) to round out the quartet. Check out Linda’s bio below!

Let's Welcome Linda Numagami!

Linda Numagami is a dedicated teacher, chamber musician, and orchestral performer. She served as Acting Associate Principal Viola with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra during the 2022-23 season and as Acting Section Violist with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra from 2018 to 2020. Additionally, she has performed with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra, Philadelphia Ballet, Sarasota Opera Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra, and San Francisco Symphony. In the summer, she plays as Associate Principal Violist with the Colorado Music Festival.

As a chamber musician, Numagami has collaborated with the Ceres Quartet at the Newburgh Chamber Music Series, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra Prelude Series, and has participated in various Music For Food concerts in San Francisco and New York.

While at Juilliard, Linda received the 2016 Juilliard Community Engagement Grant, which supported a series of concerts and events in her hometown of Reading, Pennsylvania.

She also won the 2015 New England Conservatory Entrepreneurial Musician Grant for her interdisciplinary project, Silence Speaks. Most recently, she was awarded the 2021 Grow Your Art Project Grant as an alumnus of the New England Conservatory of Music.

Numagami holds a Bachelor's degree from the New England Conservatory and a Master’s degree from the Juilliard School, where she studied with Roger Tapping. She also earned a postgraduate degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Jonathan Vinocour.

In her free time, Linda enjoys spending time with friends, hula hooping, and being outdoors.

¡Fiesta Latina!

A Celebration of Latin American Cultures

September 28-29, 2024 - Music Haven is proud to announce the collaboration with the Yale Peabody Museum, Junta for Progressive Action, New Haven Pride Center, Arte Inc, the New Haven Free Public Library, and more for the return of the Yale Peabody Museum’s annual ¡Fiesta Latina!

On Saturday, 9/28, Music Haven will participate at Junta (169 Grand Ave., New Haven, CT) with an instrument petting zoo from 1-3 pm and on Sunday, 9/29, at Peabody Museum (170 Whitney Ave., New Haven, CT) with a special performance from our students at 1 pm in the David Friend Hall on the third floor.

The festival will foster connection and solidarity through education, performances, storytelling, and hands-on cultural activities. It offers a unique opportunity for families who may not regularly visit Yale or the Peabody Museum to engage with this cultural experience.

All programs are FREE, community-led, and accessible to participants of all ages, as we come together to celebrate the vibrant diversity of Latiné identities in New Haven and beyond.

Mr. Patrick’s Student

"Music Haven is a great way to make lifelong friends and memories. One of my favorite parts of Music Haven is when all of the teachers come together and play for the students. They play with lots of emotion and you can tell their hearts are really into it! Those are just some of my favorite parts of Music Haven."
