Turning the Page: Our Vision for the Upcoming Year
As we enter a new year, we find ourselves reflecting on the incredible journey we've shared over the past year. Together our community has experienced successes, faced challenges head-on, and, most importantly, grown stronger together. Your support has been the driving force behind youth education and empowering families to escape extreme poverty at the border. We are excited about what we've been able to accomplish, and we're incredibly grateful to you, our supporters!
As we continue to grow, the upcoming year brings an improved vision, fresh goals, and lots of possibilities. We're excited to continue to share this journey with you as we continue to empower growth and positive change!

February 1st will mark our 5th anniversary! Over the past few years, we've seen so much incredible progress –– an increase in attendance in our programs (average of 97% attendance in our daily education program and 80% attendance in our weekly program!), an expansion of our MdC family, and a more engaged community.
It's a common occurrence now to see our MdC family excited to be together in fellowship, freely exchanging hugs and sentiments with one another — a simple yet powerful expression of a strong sense of belonging. We are so grateful to have created an environment where our community feels safe, loved, and valued. And most importantly, they feel "hope" for a better future.
As our community continues to grow, so does the need for continued support, ongoing funding, and dependable programs.

Looking Ahead:
Honing Our Focus for Greater Impact
| |
|
This past year, with the direction of our advisors, we entered into an intensive strategic planning process. As we are nearing our 5th year and maturing as an organization we must continue to focus our resources toward maximizing impact for the long term. We identified education as our most powerful leaver for breaking the cycle of multi-generational poverty.
We see education as the foundation for creating lasting impact and empowerment within our community –– because of this, our vision is to invest more deeply in educational initiatives, providing our students with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the challenges that poverty often presents.

All of our programs will be viewed through the lens of youth education attainment and the pillars that support that goal. In extreme poverty, it is not possible to talk about educating young people without attending to the underlying barriers that prevent children from attending school and involving the entire family in the process.
Here are the pillars we're focusing on:
| Good Nutrition, Healthy Bodies, & Healthy Minds | |
With health and wellness in mind, our goal is to continue to provide clean drinking water and healthy food, address medical and dental needs, and help prevent students from home stresses.
| | |
Livable Conditions & Economic Capacity
By ensuring that students do not have to work during school hours and have home environments that are conducive to learning, we can prioritize education as a tool that breaks this cycle of poverty. |
Supportive Networks & Role Models
When students have teachers, professionals, and peers that support them in their goals, we create a thriving and self-sustaining community.
Over the years, we've seen our families overcome barriers, forge meaningful relationships, discover a sense of belonging, rediscover purpose, learn new skills, and access fresh opportunities –– we've seen families evolve, relationships built, and lives changed.
|
The impact of our work, the growth we've witnessed, and the lives we've touched are all testaments to the power of your support. We are on this journey together and we are so thankful for your trust and sacrifice!
