Resiliency & Regional Planning
Last week was the kickoff of the Climate-adaptive Design Studio. The Town and Village of Ossining are honored to have been selected to participate in this initiative where Cornell Landscape Architecture students will explore alternatives for climate resiliency in our waterfront community. Click here to read more about how this study will help us plan for the future.

Last week I attended a meeting hosted by the NYC Planning Commission engaging regional leaders on issues related to sustainability planning. I participated in the group focused on transit. First mile/last mile challenges and regional transit connections dominated the discussion. Two items that came up requiring action and communication with Albany involve congestion pricing and e-bikes. As mayor of a village of only tens of thousands, I sometimes shy away from meetings focused on a city of millions. But I recognize there is no more powerful voice than NYC, and by participating in regional conversations, I may play some role in advocating for policies that best serve folks up river.

At last week's work session, the Village Board discussed refining our proposed changes to village code that will expand communication with residents about proposals being considered by the village land use boards. Click here to view the full agenda and for a link to the meeting video.

Community Connections
Open Office Hours with the Mayor  will take place tomorrow in the Board of Trustees office on the first floor of Village Hall from 10:00am until 12:00noon. No appointment is necessary, and all are welcome to discuss any topic, concern or idea of interest to you.

Have a burning question or idea, at any hour of the day or night?... Email me (mayor@villageofossining.org), Village Manager Karen D'Attore (kdattore@villageofossining.org) or the Board of Trustees (bot@villageofossining.org).

Wednesday Meeting
This week's legislative session includes a number of housekeeping items which were discussed at the recent work session. These include agreements with other levels of government to reimburse the village for services including snow removal and prisoner transport. Click here to view the full agenda .

Because this is a legislative session, there are a number of invitations for community members to offer comments. If you would like to spread the word about an upcoming event, please take up to two minutes during Organizational Announcements. Folks who would like to comment on the resolutions included on this week's agenda may do so for up to four minutes at the start of the Village Board Resolutions portion of the meeting. The meeting closes with an invitation for community members to comment for up to three minutes during Visitor Recognition about any topic of relevance to the common good of the Village. The meeting will be held at the Birdsall-Fagan Police Court Facility on Spring Street.

With Regards,
Victoria Gearity, Ossining Mayor
