Paint the Pandemic
As this challenging year comes to an end, the Los Altos Public Arts Commission invites you to Paint the Pandemic!
Paint, draw, or sketch a scene from your life in the pandemic. What does your life look like during the pandemic? How have you been spending your time at home? What have you been doing that’s new or different? It can be real, it can be imagined, or it can be a combination of both.
Artwork will be displayed in Los Altos business districts from January 7 to January 31, 2021.

Flood Preparedness
Not every part of California experiences every type of flooding, but the results of each are the same: without proper preparedness, lives, homes, infrastructure, and agriculture are lost, and damage to the environment and economy is likely. What can you do? Prepare now. To wrap up Flood Preparedness Week (October 17-24), we offer guidance and essential resources to keep your family and home safe in case of a flood.
- Register everyone in your household for emergency notification alerts.
-
To receive emergency messages, visit www.alertscc.org; there you can register or update your contact information.
- Text your zip code to the six-digit number 888777 to get Los Altos community alert messages.
-
Make sure you have non-perishable emergency supplies and a disaster supply kit. To learn more, see www.losaltosca.gov/gobag.
- If you have pets and animals, you need to plan what you’ll do with them during a flood or evacuation. Check your pets’ tags, registrations, and microchip data are up-to-date so they can be identified.
-
Be prepared to act quickly during a flood. Make a family communication plan and review evacuation routes. For more information, see www.losaltosca.gov/emergencyprep.
